2005 Celebrity Mascot Games
an overwhelming success July 10, 2005 - Orlando, FL - This year's 13 th Annual Celebrity Mascot Games put on by the Central Florida Sports Commission and held at TD Waterhouse Centre featuring over 25 mascots from the NBA, NHL, NFL, AFL, NCAA and MLB was an overwhelming success. Competitions were held on Thursday, and Saturday at TD Waterhouse and Friday at Stetson University . Proceeds from the games benefited “ New Hope for Kids”, an Orlando based non-profit organization that grants wishes to Central Florida children with life-threatening illnesses. Since its inception, New Hope has granted over 3,000 wishes and the Mascot Games, since its first year in 1992, has donated over $200,000 to the charity.
Mascots were assigned to one of four teams which competed in events such as the Obstacle Course, Bowling, Dodge Ball and Jousting.
Naturally, the configuration of the costumes made for some hilarious and interesting moments. This year's overall winner was the Red Team but actually the winners were the spectators and New Hope for Kids.
