Emerging Artist Mat Kearney Heats Up As Six Seperate Songs Garner National TV Exposure Headline Tour Dates Announced For AOL Music New Breaker Artist

Major Label Debut Album, Nothing Left To Lose, In Stores Now

Santa Monica, CA - (source: Columbia Records) - Things are heating up on a variety of fronts for the emerging young singer-songwriter Mat Kearney, a recent AOL Music New Breaker Artist.

With six of his songs achieving national television exposure, Kearney will spend the fall headlining a series of North American concert dates (see itinerary following) in support of his major label debut album, Nothing Left To Lose on Aware/Columbia Records.

Six separate songs from Mat's recently released Nothing Left To Lose album are getting prominent exposure on the tube. The title track can be heard on cable channel TNT's image promo campaign through the end of the year as well as MTV's "Laguna Beach" and Fox's "Bones." “All I Need” was featured on the highly watched third season premiere of ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy,' where in a first for a major network, the album cover was shown on-screen after the episode. The second episode of "Grey's Anatomy" (9/28) featured Kearney's "Crashing Down," while NBC's promos for "Friday Night Lights" include Mat performing "Undeniable." Mat's "Where We Gonna Go From Here" and "All I Need" are featured this fall on the ABC Family Channel's "Kyle XY" His "Won't Back Down" may be heard on "One Life To Life" (ABC), "South Beach" (UPN), and MTV's "8th & Ocean."

Released in spring, Nothing Left To Lose has been a fixture on the Heatseekers Album Sales chart, peaking at #4 in April and recently climbing back up to #7. While the album breaks into the Top 200 Album Sales chart and is currently #2 on the Alternative New Artist Album Sales chart, the title track, "Nothing Left To Lose," has been generating coast-to-coast airplay, climbing to #18 on the Top 40 Adult Airplay chart and peaking at #2 on the AAA Airplay chart, reaching a radio audience of more than 5.6 million this week. "Nothing Left To Lose" has just entered the Hot 100 Singles chart while a video for the song is on medium rotation at VH1, most played video this past week.

Mat was picked as one of six hot young emerging artists to be featured during the spring season of AOL Music's innovative Breakers new music series. Kearney and his groundbreaking acoustic-flavored pop-rock have been showcased on AOLMusic.com and across the AOL Music and Radio Networks. Mat Kearney has enjoyed more than one million song plays on his MySpace page (myspace.com/matkearney).

Raised in Eugene, Oregon, Mat Kearney went to college in California, where he studied English literature. While on spring break, he traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, where he fell under the spell of the same muses who'd inspired Southern writers like Flannery O'Connor and William Faulkner and began writing his own emotionally complex songs dealing with themes of emotional tumult, spirituality, and redemption.

Deciding to make Nashville his home base, Mat soon began performing at local songwriter nights alongside artists like Nickel Creek and Duncan Sheik. Infusing his acoustic based singer-songwriter ballads and narratives with a personalized touch, Kearney -- who plays guitar, piano and harmonica -- developed a reputation as a formidable live performer. His first album, Bullet, was released on the indie label Inpop in 2004.

Kearney's Nothing To Lose features 13 original tracks produced by Robert Marvin and recorded at Bridge Street, The Smokehouse and Sweetbriar Studios. Kearney is joined on the album by Paul Moak (guitar), Lynn Nichols (guitar), Tony Lucido (bass), and Lindsay Jamieson (drums), among others.

Kearney's sound incorporates wide-ranging influences that paint his songs with strength and passion with melodic choruses and acoustic folk/pop. Mat has headlined shows throughout the country and has opened for artists such as Train, Sheryl Crow and John Mayer, among others.
