Music As a Weapon Music’s Premiere Hard Rock Festival Announces 2006 Line-Up Featuring Disturbed, Stone Sour, Flyleaf and Nonpoint 20 Plus City US Tour Now in its 3rd Year Set To Kick Off November 15, 2006
NEW YORK, NY, October 5th, 2006- In what will undoubtedly be the most talked about hard rock excursion this fall/winter, Disturbed, Stone Sour, Flyleaf and Nonpoint are hitting the road for the third installment of the Music as a Weapon tour, which has become hard rock’s premiere music festival uniting the voices of this generation’s most popular and relevant rock artists. The first leg of the third edition of the Music as a Weapon tour will kick off November 15, 2006 in Providence, RI and this leg of the tour will run through December.

Disturbed, one of metal’s most prolific bands created the Music As A Weapon tour in 2001 to fight against the status quo to use music as their weapon. Disturbed wanted to offer an alternative to the pop music infested festival industry, hoping that the message of the tour would inspire their fans to raise their fists in the air and fight for their beliefs. Previous incarnations of the tour featured hard rock heavyweights Taproot, Chevelle, and Drowning Pool amongst others.
Fresh off of a co-headlining stint on Ozzfest this summer DISTURBED’s powerful live show is unmatched by anyone in their genre. After debuting at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart in September, the band’s latest release TEN THOUSAND FISTS (Reprise) was certified Platinum by the RIAA. This marks the third consecutive album by one of music’s most commanding bands to reach the platinum milestone. DISTURBED’s latest single, “Land of Confusion,” a cover of the classic Genesis song, is making its way up the charts and is currently sitting at #3 on the Active Rock chart and is steadily climbing the Alternative chart’s top 20.
STONE SOUR--lead vocalist COREY TAYLOR and guitarist JAMES ROOT (both of whom do double duty in multi-platinum, Grammy winners Slipknot), bassist SHAWN ECONOMAKI, guitarist JOSH RAND and new drummer ROY MAYORGA—are touring in support of their second album COME WHAT(EVER) MAY, which entered the Billboard album chart at #4. STONE SOUR’s debut single “Through Glass” is now a #1 Mainstream and Active Rock track, marking the first #1 single in the band's career. The song is also Top Five on Billboard’s Modern Rock tracks chart and the video can be seen on MTV2. As the follow-up to their four-year-old debut album--which was twice Grammy-nominated, certified gold and contained the huge rock hit "Bother"--Come What(ever) May is filled with volatile songs that mix heaviness with sharp hooks. The songs question the motives of false prophets (the title cut), tear apart hypocrisy ("Silly World"), examine hollow celebrity culture ("Through Glass") and smash complacency ("30/30-150," "Hell & Consequences").
FLYLEAF are currently touring to support their self-titled release that contains the hits "I'm So Sick" and "Fully Alive." The album, soon to be gold, is out now on Octone Records. Metal Edge recently described the band as "emo-tinged twin guitars with steady rock rhythms and lithe basslines, all topped with Lacey Mosely's immediately astounding vocals."
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida's NONPOINT formed in 1998 and has sold well over 500,000 records in the US. The band has toured with a who's who of rock including Mudvayne, Staind, Linkin Park, Sevendust and the mighty DISTURBED, among others. They have been cited as one of the genre's best live bands, with Sold-Out headline tours (like their most recent) to back that up. Their most recent studio album, TO THE PAIN, dishes out "Unrelenting heaviness and a great sense of melody, along with brilliant instrumental work" which "really make(s) this album shine through the darkness provided by some similar acts." according to Ultimate-Guitar.com. TO THE PAIN is on track to be the band's most successful album to date and features their Top 20 radio single "Bullet With A Name." The band is poised to release a live CD/DVD entitled LIVE AND KICKING on 11/7/06 and will finish out the year on the road.
