Chiodos Forced To Cancel Dates Due To Illness
Worcester, MA - Due to concerns for vocalist Craig Owens' health, Equal Vision recording artists CHIODOS has decided to pull out of their direct supporting slot on their current tour with Between the Buried and Me.
"I woke up this morning with a severe shortness of breath," said Owens, moments before they played their last show at Poughkeepsie, NY's The Chance on Wednesday, May 24, 2006. "Since I had been sidelined once before, I have to be cautious with my health." The band will return home to Davison, MI so Owens can recover before resuming their rigorous touring schedule in June with It Dies Today, Haste the Day, and The Showdown.
In 2004 while showcasing for Equal Vision before they were signed, Owens contracted pneumonia, which landed him bedridden for four months. "Equal Vision was setting up showcases for us and I had woken up one morning with swollen glands right before everything started to happen," he recalls. "I went to the doctor and was misdiagnosed with mono." Unfortunately, the misdiagnosis resulted in a collapsed lung and time spent in ICU where he dropped 70 pounds. "At 6'2", 90 pounds doesn't look so pretty. So when I started getting the symptoms again, I realized that once it has happened, you have to be really cautious."
"I'm really bummed out that we have to get off the road and I apologize to all our fans who were planning on coming to see us in Worcester, Canada and Pittsburgh," he said. "I hope you understand and aren't too disappointed in us."
The band has just completed filming for their video 'Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute On the Creek' which is taken from the new album All's Well that Ends Well. The video was shot in New York City with Swedish buzz directors Popcore Film (Norma Jean's 'Liarsenic', From First to Last's 'The Latest Plague').
