Copenhagen’s Tiger Baby Ready To Let Out A Synthpop Roar With Second Album Noise Around Me To Be Released May 23, 2006

COPENHAGEN, DK - Souvenir Recording artists TIGER BABY are gearing up for the release of their second full-length album Noise Around Me on May 23, 2006. With the bonus US-only track, a lush and iconoclastic cover of Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, this album marks a departure from the placid explorations in texture of their debut Lost in You and pushes the band into darker, dancier synthpop. Armed with the breathy, hushed vocals of Pernille Pang, Tiger Baby is planning this year to be the year they break into the US and make their mark. “Noise Around Me is a bit more synthypoppy and darker than Lost in You,” replied Pang excitedly. “We all have high expectations for this record and we are, of course, very excited about how people are going to react to the new songs.”

What The Press Says:

“Most Impressive Under the Radar Release, Honorable Mention: Tiger Baby.” - Mondo NYC

“The unpretentious nature of their music will win you over.” – Angry Robot

“This band sort of reminds me of a Scandinavian Cocteau Twins without the dynamic eclecticism and with more understandable lyrics.... as engaging as pop music gets. Perhaps rather it would be correct to say it starts out very dance like and gets more and more ethereal as it goes along, spinning the listener in a cocoon of aural delights.” – SpinZone.com

“I knew it would be good, you know when you sometimes get the feeling that THIS IS GOOD. You wouldn´t even have to listen to it... [Tiger Baby] has given me a new look on Denmark as a music country.” - The Power of Twee

Atmospheric yet dancey, recalling a sexually charged St. Etienne, an organic Ladytron, or a slinkier Dot Allison/One Dove, Tiger Baby captures the dancier essence of synthpop in their new album. From the ethereal bounce of “Girlfriend” to the bass-thump electro of “Parkova” to the infectiously dance-y, uptempo synthpop of the waiting-to-be-a-smash “Profusion”, they mix the sexiness of underground European dance clubs, adding a universal mainstream appeal, and bottles it into perfectly packed ten track album.

Formed in Copenhagen in 1999 after their split up with the indie pop band Polytone, both Benjamin Teglbjærg and Nikolaj Gregersen needed to find a vocalist to make their new band complete and they met Pernille Pang, who since then has made up the third part of the band as the lead singer and lyric composer. Taking their name from a typo on St. Etienne’s seminal album Tiger Bay, Tiger Baby played numerous concerts at different venues in Copenhagen, appearances on different compilations, and steady rotation on Danish radio, Tiger Baby's debut album Lost in You was released in 2004 to critical acclaim across Europe. And the second single 'Sweetheart' became "Ugens Uundgåelige" - the most played song of the week on Danish National Radio P3. In February 2006, their cover of “Strangelove” appeared in the Danish Depeche Mode tribute record dmdk, kicking off the start of promotion for the May 2006 release of Noise Around Me.

Excited for the release of their second record, Tiger Baby is hoping to make a big impression with this album. “Every album you make as an artist means something special because it's the result of long process and a lot of hard work - there's a lot of feelings involved in the project,” Pernille replied. “This album is very special to us, but not because of one particular thing. It's in the music and can't be explained with words. You have to use your ears to understand.”
