Motion City Soundtrack to Headline National Tour, mtvU’s Campus Invasion ’06 Tour and Van’s Warped Tour
New York, NY – Minneapolis’ Motion City Soundtrack will be the headliners in 2006, kicking off their own national tour on February 15th, mtvU’s Campus Invasion ’06 Tour in April and then joining up with this summer’s Van’s Warped Tour. After a stellar year in 2005 with the band selling close to 200,000 copies of their Mark Hoppus produced sophomore release Commit This To Memory (June 7th – Epitaph) and a rigorous touring schedule including Warped and Nintendo Fusion, Motion City Soundtrack has emerged as a main stage marquee act.
The band will kick off their national six-week headlining trek on February 16th at The Rave in Milwaukee, WI. For the first leg of this extensive US tour the band will take OK Go, Plain White T’s and Spill Canvas with them and for the second leg The Format, The Matches and Men, Women & Children will join them. MCS will finish their national tour in early April when they join up with mtvU’s Campus Invasion ’06 Tour as the headlining act.
Back for its second year under the mtvU banner, Campus Invasion ’06 will bring MCS (whose video for “Everything is Alright” won “The Breaking Woodie” – Best Emerging Artist – at the 2005 mtvU Woodie Awards) along with red-hot emerging acts HelloGoodbye (who took first place honors in the recent MTV2 Dew Circuit Breakout battle-of-the-bands competition) and Straylight Run (whose video for “Hands in the Sky” has been a student favorite, earning heavy rotation on mtvU) to twenty college campuses across the US. Dates and campuses for the tour are to be announced.
In May, the band will join this year’s two day Bamboozle Festival at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, NJ as one of the headlining acts on Saturday May 6th and in June MCS will hit the road again when they join this year’s Van’s Warped Tour as one of the main stage acts.
Motion City Soundtrack has had a tremendous year. In addition, to the amazing sales and tour story, they made their late night TV debut on Conan O’Brien this past August, performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live in January 06, and recently appeared in Rolling Stone as one of the “Artists to Watch.” Their video for the single “Everything Is Alright” was featured on MTV’s “10 Spot Drop” and “Advanced Warning”, was in heavy rotation on FUSE where it reached the #1 spot and has been a mainstay on both mtvU and MTV2. The band just finished shooting a video for their second single “Hold Me Down” with renowned Director Joseph Kahn (U2, Muse, Eminem, Britney Spears) and his protégé Matt McDermitt (Backstreet Boys, Alanis Morissette, Anna Nalick).
