The Sad Lives Of The Hollywood Lovers
Announce Tour Dates
In the Northeast/Midwest Tour Set To Start June 7, 2006 in Chalottesville, VA
Fredericksburg, VA In support of their Spins Good Records debut mini-album release of Silencer, THE SAD LIVES OF THE HOLLYWOOD LOVERS are gearing up for a tour of the
Northeast and Midwest through the summer. Starting off on
June 7, 2006 in Charlottesville, VA at The Outback Lodge and shooting towards Brooklyn on August 7, 2006 at The Trash
Bar,
they will be bringing tracks off of their album to life as well
as debuting some new material yet to be recorded, some of which differs considerably from the recorded versions. Weve sort of enjoyed having shows and the record sound different
from each other at some points and similar to each other at
other points, explains co-vocalist/guitarist Mark Xu. We can duplicate the sound of the record live if we want, or we can experiment, and weve tried to walk that line enough to satisfy both our urges. Adds co-vocalist/keyboardist Hunter Christy, Onstage, I feel like
I become a different person. I often listen
to live recordings
and thin
k, Who is that man singing my
lyrics, playing my synths?

Born and grown in different parts of Virginia, The Sad Lives have been building a name for themselves throughout the region. A collaboration between two very distinct yet very similar individuals, Mark and Hunter co-write and co-produce all the material, as well as share vocals on all the songs. Sometimes I think were long-lost brothers, explains Hunter. At the heart of it were such different individuals, but at the same time we both seem to embrace the same mentality on so many aspects of life. On the other hand, being pseudo-siblings also comes with the instant ability to start arguing.
Silencer is a seven track tour de force through the modern rock spectrum. One minute synthpop, the next indie rock, and the next metallic industrial, tracks like the guitar-driven Boys to the darkly soaring You Make Me Feel Like Im Fifteen to infectious, texturally thick single The Scene, they travel diverse paths while maintaining their very distinctive and unique sound. People have been quick sometimes to say were part of the new new wave or something, whatever its called, and thats fine but I just dont see it, says Mark. We have synthesizers, and we have electronic aspects in our music, but those are just some of our art making tools. Maybe were art rock but were doing it with a pop music base
Music should be a part of the artistic culture of our time, to where all these different forms of art become emersed in the same family and musicians become artists again. These are our people.
