A Change Of Pace Ready to Release Prepare the Masses on August 15, 2006 National Tour with Showbread, Roses Are Red Announced
PEORIA, AZ – Gearing up for the follow-up to their acclaimed debut An Offer You Can’t Refuse, A CHANGE OF PACE are primed and ready to release the second album for Immortal Records, Prepare the Masses, on August 15, 2006. In addition, a national tour with Showbread and Roses Are Red has been announced, starting locally in Tempe, AZ on August 11th (tour dates below). With their posting of some new tracks on their MySpace page (www.myspace.com/achangeofpace), the rabid pre-orders of the album have been building to close to 1,000 so far. “This album is a world of difference musically and emotionally from our first record,” says vocalist/guitarist Torry Jasper. “I wrote this album on my terms and for me so it feels like a completely new band. We're all so different now.”
Melodic and complex with a indie postpunk backbone keeping it steady, Prepare the Masses is a album rife with personal struggles, hard-earned experiences, and (dare it be said) growth and maturity. Where the first album was filled with youthful exuberance and unfettered angst, this album displays how touring and hard work has prepared the band for the real world. Writing songs from the heart and soul instead of the impulses that drove them in the early years, Jasper, drummer Jonathan Kelly, bassist Johnny Abdullah, and lead guitarist Adam Rodgers have built the follow-up they needed to write, as well as the record they felt really expressed who they are. “This album means a lot to all of us,” continues Jasper, “and I think it's very important to remember that we wrote the last album when we were in our mid to late teens. We're older now and we're not trying to write for anyone but ourselves now. We're all very proud of this new music.”
Working again with producer Elvis Baskette (Incubus, Three Days Grace, Chevelle), the band have delivered an album whose songs are instantly singable, like the anthemic (and appropriately titled) “A Song the World Can Sing Out Loud”, the raucous punk of “White Lines and Lipstick”, and the soon-to-be-feelgood hit of the summer “Weekend Warriors.”
“I'm so f***ing excited,” says Jasper enthusiastically about the upcoming release of Prepare the Masses. “We're sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for this album to come out and for people start hearing about A Change of Pace everywhere they go and see us everywhere they look.”
