Heart, one of Seattle’s first major rock bands to burst onto the music scene has influenced many great Seattle bands, including Alice in Chains. A strong bond of personal friendship and professional respect remains eminent as displayed when they performed together for a tsunami relief benefit in Seattle earlier this year. This performance is what sparked a desire for Heart and Alice in Chains to play together again. Heart & Friends will be a “Decades Rock Live” event marking the first time that a national audience will be able to witness the experience of the two bands performing together. With the unique blend of special guest collaborations just added this will be a “Decades Rock Live” experience not to be missed. Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart say it best here:
“We are honored to rock in such company. Anything can happen,” said Ann Wilson of Heart.
“When you are lucky like we are in Heart to be around for more than one decade, the arc of our career has taken many forms. Doing this show is a reminder of where we came from. We were always ready to rock with the best of them and this show is no exception,” added Nancy Wilson of Heart.
The second episode in the “Decades Rock Live” concert series premiered on VH1 Classic on Friday, January 27, 2006 at 8 p.m. by paying tribute to pop music icon Cyndi Lauper. Special guests to honor Cyndi Lauper include Scott Weiland, Ani DiFranco, Shaggy, Pat Monahan of Train and The Hooters.
“Decades Rock Live,” is an innovative new live concert series that features performances by celebrated artists from rock to soul who have influenced popular music over the last 50 years, as well as performances from some of today’s hottest recording acts who have been inspired by these legends. The only live concert series of it kind, the program premiered on VH1 Classic on November 18, 2005. The debut episode honored Bonnie Raitt with special guest appearances by Norah Jones, Ben Harper, Keb Mo and Alison Krauss.
“DECADES ROCK LIVE” is taped at Trump Taj Mahal’s high definition television studio, The Decades Rock Arena (temporarily renamed from Mark Etess Arena for the duration of the series run), in Atlantic City, NJ. Each one-hour episode in the 12 part series will focus on a specific artist. The series will be broadcast in High Definition in 5.1 surround sound, and rebroadcast on a premium HD network at a later date.
The music performances are augmented with special features, such as “Decades Confidential,” exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews with artists, focusing on their career milestones and highlighting their newest releases, concert performances and other endeavors. “DECADES ROCK LIVE” segments will also include “Fan Factoids” from viewers sharing their knowledge of music facts and figures, incorporated as pop-up quotes and trivia in every episode.
Fans will also have the chance to get their hands on exclusive memorabilia and special items from the artists scheduled to participate in the series.
