Green Day Conclude Wildly Successful Run

BURBANK, CA - (MARKET WIRE) - Punk rock luminaries Green Day have officially ended the touring cycle for their masterpiece American Idiot. The band, who have been touring in support of their much-praised release, playing to millions around the world, are now taking time off before beginning work on their next studio album.

Green Day's multi-platinum American Idiot was released on September 21, 2004 and debuted at Number One on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and Number One in several countries around the world. Weeks later, the album returned to the Number One chart position in the U.S. and many of the same countries across the globe. Months after the release of the album, Green Day made radio history by becoming the first rock band to reach #1 on six radio charts simultaneously with their smash "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams."

Green Day were recently voted Favorite Group at the 32nd Annual People's Choice Awards on January 10th in Los Angeles. The band won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in February of 2005, and are currently nominated for Record Of The Year at this year's Grammys taking place on February 8th in Los Angeles, CA. They swept the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards by winning seven out of the eight awards for which they were nominated, including the most prestigious Video Of The Year; the 2005 Billboard Music Awards winning in total a staggering eight awards and the 2005 Rolling Stone Readers Poll winning Artist of the Year, Best Single and Best Band.
