Sparta To Co-Headline Tour With MewithoutYou Sparta Will Also Perform At Sundance In January 2007 Group Touring In Support Of Much-Buzzed-About New Album Threes
LOS ANGELES - Hollywood Records recording artists Sparta have announced plans for a co-headlining tour with mewithoutYou, set to begin Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Sokol Underground in Omaha,
NE. The tour's opening band will
be Aloha. On January 27,2007 the
band will hit Sundance for a warm-up show at the ASCAP showcase at The Star Bar.
The quartet (vocalist/guitarist Jim Ward, guitarist Keeley Davis, bassist Matt Miller and drummer Tony Hajjar) are touring in support of much-buzzed-about new album THREES, the disc Rolling Stone praised as a dark, brawny
record with intricate layers. Alternative Press wrote: "...Sparta finally seem intent on realizing their destiny as an arena-filling, life-changing band." Revolver called the album's melodies irresistible and lauded the band for combining elements of early Radiohead
and U2 with a turbulence reminiscent of My Chemical Romance." Entertainment Weekly hailed the
group as a punkier U2.
The band recently wrapped a headlining tour, a handful of support dates with the Deftones, and performed their hit single, 'Taking Back Control,'
on Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson As the song continues to make
noise at rock radio, its companion video, which includes footage from
the upcoming thriller The Invisible, is in rotation on MTV2 and Fuse. The song also appears on the film's soundtrack alongside TV On The Radio, Snow Patrol, A Perfect Circle and Death Cab For Cutie. The Invisibles soundtrack arrives in stores in early 2007.
You can catch Sparta playing Taking Back Control and other favorites
from new album THREES on their upcoming tour.
