Female Tribute Bands To Celebrate The Release of 'Girls Got Rhythm'
Groups honoring AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and The Misfits to perform at Hollywood record release party
On Aug. 21, 2006, three of the bands featured on the new female tribute band compilation Girls Got Rhythm -- ThundHerStruck, Zepparella and Ms. Fits -- will perform at a Hollywood record release party for the album, which will be released the following day.
The show, which takes place at the Key Club on the Sunset Strip, sees the groups open for Metal Skool, a "comedy tribute" band with an extremely popular Monday night residency at the venue. Doors open at 8 p.m., and Ms.
Fits take the stage an hour later. All attendees will receive raffle tickets at the door, and one lucky winner will be chosen at random to receive a Champagne Sparkle Rock Candy guitar generously provided by Daisy Rock Guitars.
Featuring cover art by Alan Forbes (AFI, Queens of the Stone
Age,
Black Crowes), Girls Got Rhythm is the first compilation album issued
by Liquor and Poker Music, and comemmorates not only the label's
third anniversary, but also its two favorite subjects: women and rock
n' roll. Part Cold Gin and part Ace of Spades, Liquor and Poker --
which over the course of its first 36 months released two dozen
albums by international superstars The Hellacopters, Backyard Babies
and Hanoi Rocks, as well as domestic upstarts such as Fireball
Ministry and Nebula -- is the rock arm of The Century Family's
flagship imprint, Century Media Records.
