Stephen Marley To Kick Off New Tour In April Grammy Winning Artist/Producer Readies Solo Debut Album This Fall

(New York, NY, April 19, 2006) Stephen Marley, visionary artist, Grammy winning producer and son of legendary icon Bob Marley will be hitting the road in this month in anticipation of his new album, “MIND CONTROL,” which is scheduled for nationwide release later this year. Marley kicks off his tour today in Philadelphia, Pa, bringing his roaring brand of roots-fueled funk and reggae – as well as his talented brother, Ky-Mani - to Philly’s Theatre of The Living Arts, with stops included along the way in Boston, (4/23), Cincinnati (4/25), and the recovering city of New Orleans (4/28), among other cities, before winding up at the end of the month in Houston, Texas.

For Stephen, the past year has been a coming-out party of sorts, scoring a Grammy for his triumphant co-production work on brother Damian ‘Jr.Gong’ Marley’s acclaimed RIAA certified Gold disc Welcome To Jamrock, and putting the finishing touches on his highly regarded solo debut, which showcases the diverse range of the studio-savvy Stephen, with songs such as the mesmerizing “Chase Dem,” and the soulful serenade “Hey Baby”. Stephen now has five Grammy Awards for his work as a member of The Melody Makers and as a producer, to date garnering the most Grammys of any Marley family member.

A veteran of the family’s fertile launching pad, Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers, Stephen has emerged in recent years as a pivotal production and creative force, helping to oversee Marley enterprises like Tuff Gong Records and its umbrella imprint Ghetto Youths, and helming family touchstone projects such as the RIAA Certified Gold Chant Down Babylon, the star-studded Bob Marley tribute album. ‘He’s always been a great teammate,’ his brother Damian told a recent interviewer. “Now he’s coming completely into his own.’
