NEW YORK, NY (March 30, 2006)—When it comes to discovering new music and breaking bands, there are no better authorities than music bible Alternative Press and fuse, the nation’s only viewer-driven music television network. The two powerhouses joined forces at this year’s tantamount music festival South By Southwest, which took place earlier this month in Austin.
Each year, Alternative Press hosts one of the biggest indoor/outdoor daytime events during the music festival, at the legendary Austin nightclub Emo’s. Alternative Press, fuse and partners Logitech, Zippo, HOB, Purevolume and Dickies Girl took over the club’s three venues and multiple stages to host eighteen bands including some of the most acclaimed new and established talent including Thursday, The Sounds and Say Anything. The event, which had fans lined up around the block as early as 10am, was undoubtedly one of the most successful showcases during the entire SXSW music festival.
fuse’s Alternative Press SXSW Party Special, which premieres on Wednesday, April 5th @ 9pm (ET), features a variety of behind the scenes footage including exclusive interviews and live performances by acclaimed bands such as Thursday, who have become one of the scene’s biggest success stories. Other key bands featured in the special include Circa Survive (fronted by former Saosin singer Anthony Green) and Fueled By Ramen artists Paramore.
