The Juliet Dagger And Last Conservative Added To NYC's Honda Civic Tour On September 17 & 18 Music is Art Tour Through High Schools And Branching Out Nationally!
Buffalo, NY - Good Charamel recording artists, THE JULIET DAGGER and LAST CONSERVATIVE have just been added to the New York City dates of the Honda Civic Tour, hitting Randall's Island on September 17 and 18, 2005. Both bands will be playing the XM Radio Stage, sponsored by Billy Zero's Unsigned Radio (XM Channel 52). Staind will be headlining the main stage. Set times for the weekend's shows are:
Saturday
3:15pm - Last Conservative
4:30pm - The Juliet Dagger
Sunday
1:00pm - Last Conservative
2:00pm - The Juliet Dagger
In addition, both bands along with Goo Goo Doll and Good Charamel label president Robby Takac are bringing the Music is Art Tour to more high schools and bridging it outside of Western New York to Ohio and Pennsylvania, hoping to reach even more cities and states.
Hailing from Buffalo, NY, Last Conservative's straight-ahead rock drips with enough emotion and power to drown a fleet of tankers, yet has enough steam and raucous energy to kick the pants off their poseur-esque emo-twirling peers. Packed with more punching guitar riffs and searing guitars, these four upstarts have been building their fanbase steadily through national exposure through MTV's Advance Warning specials, heavy rotation on MTV's college network, MTVu, and from a recent tour supporting All American Rejects. Their album On to the Next One has the powerful melodic pummeling of "Over My Head", the searing guitar work of "Hope and Pray" and the melodic kick of the single "On to the Next One".
Hailing from Buffalo, NY, The Juliet Dagger have been kickin' it hardcore for quite a few years, bringing their blend of GoGo's brattiness (who’s “Our Lips Are Sealed” is lovingly and covered), The Donna's stomp, and a fierce and feisty rhythm section befitting of Agnostic Front or Rancid. "We prefer to call our music ‘death pop’,” explains vocalist/guitarist Erin Roberts. "What I do basically is write pop songs, but then the three of us approach it from the punk end and add aggressive riffs, a harder sound, and shake it up a bit.” Packed with winsome and angular songs like the infectiously melodic “Waiting”, the maniacal hardcore of “Stab”, to the breezy “Happyzak”, Turn Up The Death is the perfect summer album for putting the top down on your Jeep, blasting out loud and hard, and annoying every old person around you.
The Music Is Art Tour consists of a five-minute film of Takac speaking about the importance of self-worth and confidence, followed by live performances from Last Conservative and The Juliet Dagger, who embed their positive messages within their sets. The band and project organizers spend the whole day at the school, offering talks, career advice, and other interaction with the students, as a show of support and solidarity. Already, the program (which was launched in 2004) has shown a huge impact within the educational systems in the Northeast. 17 year-old Clotilde Dedecker (featured in Teen People's 20 Teens Who Will Change the World) who attends Nardin Academy in Buffalo, NY helped establish Friends of Afghanistan, a program that helped rebuild schools in war-torn Afghanistan. Joining forces with Dedecker, the two programs work together in bringing messages of motivation and self-empowerment along with a humanitarian message of help overseas.
The program includes:
* A special video message from Robby Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls.
* A performance by national recording artists Last Conservative/The Juliet Dagger.
* A brief talk featuring members of Last Conservative/The Juliet Dagger regarding the importance of personal responsibility and the impact music has had in their lives.
* A table where students can meet the band afterwards and purchase CDs if they choose.
We expect this event to run approximately one hour, and Good Charamel provides sound equipment at no expense to the school.
