Scum Of The Earth Announce New Headline Tour Band Features X-Rob Zombie Guitarist, Riggs, "Get Your Dead On," Top 5 Most Played Video On MTV2 Headbangers Ball
May 17, 2005 - New York, NY - Scum of the Earth, the monstrous new breakout
band fronted by ex-Rob Zombie guitarist Riggs, announced today they will set
out on tour in support of their Eclipse Records debut album
"Blah...Blah...Blah... Love Songs for the New Millennium." Riggs and his Scum will kick off their
nationwide tour on June 14, in Springfield, Missouri and they are set to run
through the summer.
Highlighted as a "Band to watch in 2005," by Metal Edge Magazine, Scum of the
Earth features the artistic vision of Riggs, whose penchant for horror,
comics, and wild imagery drove him to madness long before his days of working with
Rob Zombie. Combining the macabre with a touch of twisted cartoonish humor,
his technicolor musical vision appalls assaults and engages. KNAC called it
"devastating techno-sludge, complete with gritty morbid lyrics, haunting samples
and sleaze galore!" Having joined forces with renown horror artist Eric Pigors
for the stage design and some of the CD's art, Riggs and his Scum of the
Earth deliver a multi-sensory experience. Lending additional ghoulish visuals to
the CD are Dan Brereton
and Dave Cook.
The band's upcoming live shows will be loaded with all the highlights that
Scum fans would come to expect; blood-sucking freak show theatrics, accompanied
by an explosive storm of heavy music with an electrified infectious beat.
Seeming excited about the upcoming tour, Riggs says “It ought to be good. There'll
definitely be more blood. I figured out more spots (in the show) where I
could douse people in blood and still play the songs - full carnival of carnage."
"Blah...Blah...Blah... Love Songs for the New Millennium" is Riggs' first
full-scale production credit and it was recorded and partially written with an
all-star cast of friends including Zombie drummer John Tempesta (White Zombie,
Rob Zombie) and John's brother Mike (guitar, Powerman 5000)—marking the first
time the brothers have played together on record, plus drummer John Dolmayan
and others. The debut has been building at a steady pace since its Fall release,
receiving a generous amount of rock radio airplay with the first single “Get
Your Dead On,” which also features UMixIt™ interactive technology. An
enhanced feature that allows listeners to isolate, violate and remix on their
computer, up to 8 audio tracks of the song, it encourages fans to play Dr.
Frankenstein.
In addition, Scum of the Earth lensed a video for the single with director
Rob Prior (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), which is in the Top 5 most played videos
on MTV2's Headbangers Ball (Revolver Magazine). The clip is based on the main
character in his upcoming horror film Shadow Walker, which is currently in
pre-production. In an unprecedented move, it introduces the mythology of the
Shadow Walker villain before its appearance in a film, comic book, or video game
(each is scheduled for release this year). Prior, a renowned master of
photorealistic comic book art (he crafted the creatures for the Buffy the Vampire
Slayer and Angel), conceived the Shadowalker with groundbreaking comic book writer
Paul Jenkins ("Origin: The True Story of Wolverine," "Spider-Man: Return of
the Goblin," "The Incredible Hulk," "Darkness: Resurrection").
