Motor City Music Legends Perform With Student Orchestra In New York City
NEW YORK – The Spinners, Richard Street’s Temptations, and Martha Reeves & the Vandellas will perform a special New York City show – dubbed “Legends of Motor City” - supported by an orchestra of young musicians from Delaware State University, a historical Black College and University, on June 10, 2005 at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
The orchestra will utilize a team of musicians/educators as section leaders to help the students achieve a new level of performance. It is a real world experience that allows them a glimpse into the demanding professional music arena.
“We’ve all heard about ‘Saving the Music’ at the educational level,” said Mariano Longo, President, Musiquest: Artists and Students in Concert. “Taking it a step further, I believe we have a ‘working model’ that ensures today’s professionals can pass on their musical knowledge and experience to the young artists of tomorrow. Working with these young people reaffirms my belief in the future of the arts in our society.”
Tickets range from $25-90 and are available at Ticketmaster locations, Tower Records, J&R Music World, select FYE and Coconuts Stores, .ticketmaster.com, or charge by phone at (212) 307-7171. Show time is 8 p.m.
“Legends of Motor City” is a joint venture made possible by the artists, Delaware State University, Big Fish Productions, Mars Talent, and MusiQuest: Artists & Students in Concert.
