West Coast Rap Radio Pioneer Julio G. Drafted For Grand Theft Auto And Swooped By Napster
Los Angeles, Ca. – May 9, 2005 - Los Angeles radio personality Julio G. took rap radio by storm as one of the original Mix Masters on L.A.’s most memorable radio station K-DAY during the 1980’s. When the station went defunct L.A’s KKBT then, 92.3 and now 100.3 nabbed Julio G. for the evening slot where he continued to make his mark, partly by working with the late Eazy-E and continuing the show in his memory to becoming the most listened to urban dj in L.A.
After 5 years at The Beat and many managers who have come and gone, Julio left to regroup. Always keeping his ears and credibility with the streets, music and film producer DJ Pooh (Barbershop, Friday etc.) called Julio
to be in his movie The Wash featuring Dr. Dre & Snoop. Impressed but always familiar with Julio G.’s ease and likeability, he called on him again, to be the voice on Grand Theft Auto’s San Andréa’s(sp?) where they created the radio station Los Santos for Julio G.’s voice.
Now Napster has recognized Julio G’s talent, not only in his voice and how he relates and understands his audience but how he communicates and connects through interviews with artists. His unique interview style is a priceless talent. He goes right to the core of an artists’ talent and asks pertinent questions that make the artist respect him because they see right away that he cares, recognizes and sees they have a gift as well. (quote from napster or artist here).
Julio, always going where his heart leads him, back to the beginning, where hip hop lives and that is on 93.5 FM KDAY. You can catch him on the air, still doing artist interviews, juggling phone calls from faithful listeners and having the time of his life by bringing L.A. the music they love.
