Hip-Hop DJ Hits The Road In Support of
Critically Acclaimed Hollywood Debut Shifting Gears
Z-Trip Launches Headling Tour
Tour Launches August 18, 2005 In Tucson, AZ Also Performing at Lollapalooza And ESPN's X-Games
Burbank, CA - Hot off his show-stealing performance at
this year's Coachella Music Festival (which included a
much-buzzed-about guest appearance by Chester Bennington), Hollywood Records recording artist Z-TRIP
has announced plans for a headlining tour that begins August 18, 2005 in Tucson, AZ, at Club Congress. Z-Trip
will also be tearing up this year's Lollapalooza in
Chicago (on July 23) and ESPN's X-Games in Los
Angeles
(August 3-7).
"I can't wait to get back on the road," says Z-Trip. "I'll be
doing the blends and mixing for which I'm known, but I'll
also be performing stuff from the new album taking
the whole show to the next level. If you're coming out, be prepared for some over-the-top performances as well
as some serious party rocking."
The hip-hop DJ is touring in support of his critically acclaimed Hollywood debut SHIFTING GEARS, the
album Rolling Stone gave four stars and praised for its "nostalgic re-creation of early-Eighties Bronx hip-hop,
chock-full of big beats and party jams." Urb described the album as "...a set of songs that'll bring you back to a time when block parties ruled and the DJ and MC were equals." Wrote The Source,
"Shifting Gears brilliantly displays his originality." The
Dallas Morning News calls the album "...a party-starter
for those with high standards."
Lead single "Walking Dead," which features Bennington,
got the album off to a great start, breaking from the gate
and becoming a top 20 hit at Modern Rock radio.
The producer/DJ can also be seen in Scratch: All The Way Live, the much-anticipated sequel to acclaimed turntable film Scratch-The Movie. Directed by Doug Pray (Hype, Scratch-The Movie), this live concert DVD highlights a night from the last national Scratch Tour during a stop at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. Z-Trip also appears on Motown Remixed, a landmark album featuring the world's top producers/remixers putting a new spin on 15 Motown classics. The album finds Z-Trip re-grooving the legendary Jackson 5 hit, "I Want You Back."
Don't miss your chance to catch Z-Trip in action. Opening the shows will be seminal rap group Black Sheep. "I'm excited to have them on the road with me," says Z-Trip. "They were definitely an influence on me. And it's great to see them back together. Live, they've always been about having a good time and that's an element sorely missing from today's scene. People who come to these shows are definitely in for a treat."
