Smile Empty Soul Gives Fans A Major Does Of 'Anxiety' Sophomore Album To Hit Stores Nationwide On
September 27, 2005
Band’s Self-Titled Debut Album Officially Certified Gold
New York, NY - July 21, 2005 - SoCal rockers Smile Empty Soul return this fall with the release of their highly
anticipated sophomore album entitled Anxiety. The aptly
titled disc, available on Lava Records, is choc full of
razor-like rants rebelling against political leaders, the religious right, suburbia and loneliness. The album will
hit stores on September 27, 2005.
Anxiety was produced by John Lewis Parker at
Suburban Hell studios, located near the band’s
hometown of Santa Clarita, California. The disc,
showcases front-man Sean Danielsen’s anxious
gritty vocals on a total of fifteen new tracks including the
album’s first single “Don’t Need You.” Other highlights
from the album include the controversial track
“Holes,” initially intended to be the albums first single,
until the religious right boycotted the track. The song’s
potent chorus spews, All these people think they
know what's missing from my show / Just admit that
Jesus
died for me / Well take your bibles and go home.
In
addition, other key songs on Anxiety include the
anti-war anthem “God’s Army” which openly condemns
the
current crisis in the Mid East; and the melancholy
song “California’s Lonely.”
Anxiety follows on the heels of Smile Empty Soul’s eponymous debut album which was released in 2003.
The album was officially certified Gold this year, signifying sales of over 500,000 units. Smile was one of only a
handful of debut rock bands in the previous two years to achieve the prestigious sales award. The album spawned several radio hits including the Top-10 alternative track “Bottom of a Bottle,” “Nowhere Kids,” and “Silhouettes.”
In addition, Smile Empty Soul won the ‘Viewers Choice” award on Fuse and received substantial play on MTV2.
Smile Empty Soul are vocalist/lyricist Sean Danielsen, bassist Ryan Martin and new member Dominic Weir on drums. Smile Empty Soul formed in 1999 and performed throughout the Los Angeles area. The band inked with
Thro Back Records in 2001 and released their self-titled debut album in conjunction with Lava Records in 2003.
