Grammy Nominee Liza Richardson Adjusts The Volume Of Summer '05 With Debut Compilation Blue Sueños

KCRW-FM Radio Host And Renowned Music Supervisor Releases Debut Album Featuring Original Tracks And Remixes of Traditional Latin Favorites

July 13, 2005, Los Angeles, CA – Grammy Award
nominated music supervisor, Liza Richardson, has
earned album producer stripes with the release of her
debut compilation album, “Blue Sueños.” The 11-song collection transcends multiple decades and features
songs performed by Lhasa, Los Indios Tabajaras, Bill Laswell and previously unreleased tracks and remixes
from Charles Webster and members of The Nortec Collective.

“Blue Sueños” (Meta Records), translated in English
as “blue dreams,” is the album debut of radio host
and music supervisor, Liza Richardson. Appropriately
dubbed, “Latin chill eclectico,” the compilation, which features both instrumental and lyrical tracks, is a smooth blend of sounds that originate from Tijuana to Argentina, Puerto Rico to Chile and span from the ‘60s to modern
day. Ranging between nearly-forgotten finds, previously unreleased originals and remixed classics – think Los Indios Tabajaras’ “Tenura,” Terlenka’s “Paraiso” and Charles Webster’s remix of Noro Morales’ “Tuyo Soy” – Richardson, an avid music researcher, hand-picked
each song for the album. “This is what I call
environmental music,” states Liza, “music you listen to in your 'environment.' It's not intrusive but rather meant to
create a mood -- a mood good for entertaining, chilling, working or being with a friend. The mood I'm trying to create here is languid, as if you're on the beach in Mexico, sun is setting, surf was good today, food is cooking, smells nice,
all is well. Also, I just wanted to find music that when mixed together, feels current and nostalgic at the same time, timeless music that brings together the sounds of both traditional and modern recording technology.”

A tastemaker of LA’s underground scene, Richardson boasts a diverse music vocabulary. Whether spinning African, Latin, hop-hop, jazz, soul, tech, reggae or classic, she blesses listeners of KCRW-FM each week with her radio show, “The Drop.” During her decade-plus tenure on-air, she segued into music consulting and supervision, earning credits for “Lords of Dogtown,” “Wicker Park” and “Y Tu Mama Tambíen,” the latter which garnered a Grammy nomination. Rounding out her extensive resume, Richardson has also compiled music for ad spots for Coca-Cola, Mini-Cooper, Motorola, Microsoft and iPod’s vibrant “Silhouettes” campaign.

Founded in 1996, Meta Records is the brainchild of independent producer Janet Rienstra and legendary musician, Bill Laswell. Dedicated to shining light on world, spiritual and eclectic sounds, the label is also home Pharoah Sanders, Buckethead, Sussan Deyhim, Jah Wobble, Zakir Hussain and Mike D of the Beastie Boys.
