Antigone Rising Announces Summer Tour Dates
All Female Rockers To Perform Songs Off Their
Acclaimed Major Label Debut 'From The Ground Up'
Which Is Available Exclusively at Starbucks
Debut Single 'Don't Look Back' To Hit AAA and Hot AC Airwaves Imminently
New York, NY - June 30, 2005 - Antigone Rising are taking
it to the streets. The all-female New York area five-piece
are pleased to announce summer tour dates in support of their critically acclaimed major label debut From the
Ground Up, which is exclusively available at Starbucks locations nationwide. The band, who've toured
relentlessly over the years in the infamous white Ford
van dubbed "Vanna White" are excited to get in front of
fans who've been patiently waiting for the band to return
to the road.
"We've been a touring band from the very beginning," remarked guitarist Kristen Henderson. "Our fans are
truly incredible and we can't wait to try out some of the
new songs in front of a live audience. Of course we've got
a few old-school Antigone songs up our sleeve too but
you'll have to come to the show to find out what we're
going to play."
Antigone Rising's highly-anticipated major label debut
From the Ground Up was released on May 11, 2005 exclusively at Starbucks. The album kicked off Starbucks proprietary CD series entitled "Hear Music(tm) Debut."
As of June 29, 2005, Starbucks has sold more than
62,800 units of Antigone Rising's From The Ground Up during the album's first seven weeks of exclusive
availability at the more than 4,500 Starbucks Company-operated stores in the United States. The album charted
at No. 93 on the Billboard Comprehensive Album Chart
in its first week, jumping to No. 90 in its second week.
From the Ground Up's debut single, 'Don't Look Back,' goes for adds at AAA and HOT AC formats beginning July 11th. The band is also embarking on a summer tour, which will include opening slots for the following artists on select dates: Anna Nalick and Jill Sobule; Mindy Smith and Shelby Lynne; and the John Butler Trio.
From the Ground Up was recorded live earlier this year in New York City at legendary Sony Studios. The album, produced by GRAMMY® Award winning producer Neil Dorfsman (Dire Straits, Sting, Paul McCartney,) features a total of 14 magnificent tracks including the album's
infectious first single "Don't Look Back." The song was
co-penned by Antigone Rising and chart-topping, solo artist/matchbox twenty front-man, Rob Thomas. "The band
is amazing," said Rob Thomas. "Cassidy is a born star. Antigone Rising is a band you will be listening to for a
long time."
Antigone Rising was founded in the late 90's by sibling guitarists Cathy and Kristen Henderson. The band also features powerhouse vocalist Cassidy, Dena Tauriello on drums and Jen Zielenbach on bass. The five-piece ensemble's blend of 70s-era rock n'roll has taken them
from playing small clubs up and down the eastern
seaboard, to opening up for Aerosmith, Joan Jett and
former Black Crowes' Rich Robinson. For more up-to-date information
