See Uncle Kracker Live 'Somewhere In The Sun' Pop Singer Announces Spring Tour With Kenny Chesney And Gretchen Wilson
America's Favorite Uncle Plans New Album For Late 2005
NEW YORK, NY - FEBRUARY 2, 2005 - Multi-platinum recording artist Uncle Kracker will hit the road with country superstar Kenny Chesney and red-hot Gretchen Wilson beginning March 9 in Houston, Texas for their "Somewhere In The Sun" tour. This is the second outing for Uncle Kracker with his good friend and singing partner Chesney, having hit the road together in 2004. The two gents topped the charts with the #1 crossover smash "When The Sun Goes Down" from Chesney's album of the same name. Chesney also duets with Uncle Kracker on the countrified "Last Night Again" on Uncle Kracker's critically acclaimed release Seventy Two & Sunny.
Following this tour, Uncle Kracker will hit the studio to record his fourth studio album with Lava Records. Long-time collaborator and co-producer Mike Bradford will be at the board again, twisting out the jams at his Chunky Style Music Studios in Burbank, California. Uncle Kracker has an undeniable ability to pen ultra-catchy melodies, combining elements of effervescent pop, old school country, 70s rock, and timeless down-home soul.
Uncle Kracker first gained notoriety as a member of Kid Rock's Twisted Brown Trucker Band. His first solo album Double Wide, released in 2000, sold over 2 million copies and spawned the hit single "Follow Me." In 2002, Uncle Kracker released his sophomore album No Stranger To Shame, which featured the hit singles "In A Little While" which went to #4 on the Hot AC chart and the chart-topping remake of Dobie Gray's pop-soul classic, "Drift Away." "Drift Away" currently holds the record as the longest reigning #1 single on the Adult Contemporary Mainstream Radio Chart, beating out Celine Dion's previous record of 21 weeks on the chart. In 2004, Uncle Kracker released Seventy Two & Sunny, featuring Top 20 single "Rescue" and he won Artist of the Year at the 2004 Radio Music Awards.
