Soul Legend Solomon Burke Launches New Album 'Make Do With What You Got' With February 28 Appearance on 'The Late Show With David Letterman' and March 8 Appearance on 'Late Night With Conan O'Brien'

L.A. Times Hails 'the King of Rock 'n' Soul'

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ - "Hail the king of rock 'n' soul," proclaims the headline of a recent Los Angeles Times article. Solomon Burke, the regal and pioneering subject of that praise, follows up his GRAMMY® winning 2002 album "Don't Give Up On Me" with his powerful Don Was-produced Shout! Factory debut Make Do With What You Got on March 1.

Solomon ushers in the new album with an appearance on "The Late Show With David Letterman" on February 28. The following week, Solomon returns to late night TV as the musical guest on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien." SOLOMON has a short run of live dates surrounding the album's release, including a March 4 show at B.B. King's in New York.

Make Do With What You Got "figures to only add to the accolades he's been showered with since making 'Don't Give Up On Me,'" promises the February 5 L.A. Times story. Noting that the horn section brought in by Was "[gives] the songs added punch and a stronger link to the classic '60s soul Burke helped pioneer," writer Randy Lewis extols, "Burke's elegantly soft, urgently gritty voice."

Drawn from the work of some of the 20th century's most vaunted songwriters -- Hank Williams and Bob Dylan among them -- MAKE DO WITH WHAT YOU GOT's ten tracks showcase Solomon at the height of his vocal mastery, able to penetrate to the essential core of human vulnerability and emotion. Amidst a warm, after-hours mood set by a funky-tight sextet, BURKE's vocals run from graceful to gritty, always impassioned and full of abiding hope.
