New York Soul Collective Si*Sé Set To Release Seductuve Sophomore Album "More Shine" On Tuesday October 17, 2005
Live Session on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic” Available As A Podcast
August 11, 2005, Los Angeles, CA – On Tuesday, October 17, renowned soul collective, Si*Sé, will release their sophomore CD, “More Shine” (Fuerte Records). In addition to gearing up for their new album and upcoming West Coast tour, the group’s recent live performance on KCRW’s (89.9 FM Los Angeles) influential radio show “Morning Becomes Eclectic” will be available as a podcast for 2 weeks starting August 16 from both KCRW.com and iTunes.
“More Shine,” Si*Sé’s follow-up to their critically-acclaimed, self-titled debut, is an ambitious combination of styles where Si*Se’ bridges the gap between electronic, jazz-skewed Latin rhythms and lush live instrumentation. A wonderfully melodic, rhythmic and emotional album features tracks sung in both Spanish and English. "We’re a band from New York, so we tried to blend all of the city’s musical traditions including hip-hop beats, Latin rhythms and down-tempo electronic,” Carol notes. “Those are the sounds that we hear every day of our lives.” Si*Se’s album “More Shine” simply encompasses “downtown NY cool.”
Si*Sé (pronounced see•say) was formed by singer Carol C. and programmer/DJ U.F.OW, who, along with Jeannie Oliver (violin), Neil Ochoa (percussion), Morgan Phillips (bass) and Ryan Farley (drummer), bring together the atmospheric vibes of electronica complete with a crackle of live instrumentation and Latin flavor. KCRW has also included advance copies of “More Shine” in the giveaway package for their Summer Subscription Drive. During the next two weeks, some subscribers will have the opportunity to experience the magic of Si*Sé’s 12-track album prior to its release date.
