Fall Out Boy, Hip Hop Stars Mike Jones, Paul Wall & Slim Thug, and Caribbean Phenom Rihanna Set To Perform During 2005 MTV Video Music Awards 'Pre-Show By The Shore,' Live From The White Carpet on Sunday, August 28, 6-8PM (ET Live, tape-delayed PT)

MTV News Presents All the 2005 VMA 'White' Carpet Action Live, New Music Exclusives; and The Hottest Celeb Arrivals Under the Sun!

NEW YORK, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ - MTV: Music Television announced today that Fall Out Boy, Houston hip hop stars Mike Jones, Paul Wall, and Slim Thug, and Caribbean phenomenon Rihanna will perform during the "2005 Video Music Awards Pre-Show By The Shore," on Sunday, August 28th, 6-8 p.m. (live on the east coast, tape-delayed on the west coast). In this prelude to the big show, it will be wall-to-wall stars as the biggest names in music walk the white carpet, giving fans a first glimpse at VMA madness. MTV News' Kurt Loder, John Norris, SuChin Pak, Sway Calloway, and Gideon Yago provide live coverage of one of the biggest nights in television: MTV's 22nd annual VMAs live from AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami.

MTV News is rolling out the white carpet at this year's star-studded event, with a glimpse into all the pre-show action, including:

* Punk-emo faves and 2005 VMA nominees Fall Out Boy will perform their hit single (and TRL staple) Sugar We're Going Down; * To honor a year in which the revered Houston hip hop scene finally got national attention, the three biggest rappers from H-Town, and 2005 VMA nominees, Mike Jones, Paul Wall and Slim Thug, will perform the song that brought the "chopped & screwed" sound to the masses: Still Tippin.
* Caribbean breakout star Rihanna will perform her summer smash hit, Pon De Replay. * "New Music Exclusives," with first looks or listens to new songs and music videos from My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Missy Elliott, and Ricky Martin. * Like last year, the music world's hottest artists will be making their grand entrances via yachts ... but to add to the excitement, this year, some celebs will also be showing up in their very own tricked-out rides -- in a "car show" like no one has ever seen!

MTV News exclusive post-show coverage, immediately following the "2005 MTV Video Music Awards," will include interviews with the night's big winners, plus celebrity guests, reactions to the show, favorite VMA moments, and all the latest backstage updates.

In addition to live reports from backstage, in the audience, and all around AmericanAirlines Arena, MTVNews.com will feature a white carpet photo spectacular, and reports from the hottest after parties around Miami.

The 2005 VMAs will include performances by Coldplay, 50 Cent, Shakira, Ludacris, Mariah Carey, the Killers, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, and Green Day, and appearances by some of the biggest names from the worlds of music, movies and television including Jessica Simpson, Lil Kim, Ricky Martin, Ashlee Simpson, Bow Wow, Eva Longoria, Nelly, Hilary Duff, Joel Madden from Good Charlotte, Ciara, and Alicia Keys, Usher, Jessica Alba, Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, Lindsay Lohan, Joss Stone, Jeremy Piven, and Snoop Dogg. More appearances and performers will be announced in the coming days and weeks leading up to the August 28th live broadcast.

The "2005 Video Music Awards Pre-Show By The Shore" will be executive-produced by Dave Sirulnick and Ocean MacAdams. Jim Fraenkel is the producer. Joe DeMaio is the director. Laura Hill is the Executive in Charge of Production. Jonathan Mussman is the Line Producer.
