Tampa Bay Band Four Star Riot Announce Release of
New CD Universal Dropout
Steve here, from Four Star Riot. I just released a new CD.
It's called Universal Dropout, and I'm selling it at stevealex.net for $5.99 plus shipping (Visa/Mastercard/Amex/Discover/Paypal). It will be available for download on iTunes and the other online music outlets on the last Tuesday in August.
Universal Dropout splits time between powerpop, funk, soul & rock, and is perhaps a little darker, lyrically, than most of the four star stuff. I wrote and recorded it over the past year-and-a-half in what used to be a spare bedroom, and at various locations around town; playing most of the instruments, with a few guest musicians on some of the songs.
The CD was mixed and mastered by Steve Connelly at Zen Studios. Some of the guest musicians include Joran Oppelt (Auditorium, The Gita); classical violinist Dayren Santamaria; Ronnie Dee (Gravy, Saturn 5, DeeForce); Ryan Arsenault (Vodkanauts) and Joshua Waddel (Relysis, Institution Recordings).
**** Four Star Riot has just begun working on our fifth CD, due to drop before the end of the year. 2005 has been our busiest year ever, having released the Tonight & Tomorrow CD and showcased at SXSW in Austin, TX, the FMF2K5 in Orlando, FL.
This fall/winter will see the return of some FourStar all-night shows. We've scheduled a couple of Bay Area venues to host a mix of our music with some tasteful covers. Should be fun, just like the old days! More on that as it develops, so keep checking.
Well, I hope you'll take a minute to check out the new songs, and buy a CD (its only six bucks).
