Albums and Live Shows from Caliplates Roster to Debut May 1, including Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Long Beach Dub All Stars, Pepper, Dubcat and Mishka
Sherman Oaks, CA (April 18, 2005) - Caliplates Digital, a division of Silverback Artist Management, and leading online digital entertainment distributor Altnet, a unit of Brilliant Digital Entertainment [OTCBB:BDEI], announced a licensing agreement for the distribution of music to debut May 1 on popular P2P application Kazaa. In association with Skunk Records New Media, music fans will be able to listen to and purchase downloads from approximately 100 selections both from Skunk's catalogue, as well as new music programmed by Silverback. Among them include selections from Slightly Stoopid, Long Beach Dub All Stars, Pepper, John Butler Trio, The Ziggens, Shortbus, Dubcat, Fishbone, and Mishka as well as an archive of authorized Sublime rarities.
"In a marketplace where artist buzz and promotion need to transcend traditional parameters, we are proud to be launching this initiative on Kazaa with a company that has demonstrated it can do this," stated Altnet President Lee Jaffe. "Caliplates (Silverback's digital distribution offshoot) is renowned for fostering bands at the epicenter of counterculture and we are excited to aid in their growth."
"We are thrilled to reprise Sublime footage and launch Slightly Stoopid's newest album 'Closer to the Sun' on Kazaa," stated Jon Phillips of Silverback Management. "Slightly Stoopid currently has the #1 single on KROQ-FM Los Angeles, was just added to the west coast leg of The Dave Matthews Band summer tour and through integrated promotion via P2P, thanks to Altnet and Kazaa, we are achieving a milestone for them and our indie roster, which also includes recent KROQ success story Pepper."
Caliplates was founded by Jon Phillips who previously directed A&R for Gasoline Alley Records/MCA in 1992. In 1994, he signed Sublime to Gasoline Alley and segued into management prior to the band leader's death. He later renamed his company to Silverback Artist Management and has since honed up-and-coming independent artists, including Long Beach Dub All-Stars, whose members consisted of the band formerly known as Sublime.
