Singer-Songwriter Goat Set to Release Intriguing Sophomore Album "All Of My Friends" on June 28, 2005
New York, NY, April 7, 2005 - New York musician Goat is set to release his new album, ALL OF MY FRIENDS, on June 28th. Set for release on Judgment Entertainment, the album features 10 songs full of both melancholy and unbridled optimism and finds the artist displaying his song craftsmanship at its finest. The first single off the album “Star” went to radio last week and is beginning to receive significant play in cities across the country. The video for the song was recently directed by Zoe Cassavettes in New York City. The release of ALL OF MY FRIENDS comes off the heels of the successful Kia commercial, which has been airing worldwide and featured the single “Great Life” from Goat’s debut album of the same name.
Goat’s new album ALL OF MY FRIENDS is built around gentle reveries about how to make the best of the hand you’ve been dealt. Goat wraps his honeyed and wizened croon around hard-won, occasionally rapped insights about the joys and pains of life. His subtle sample and keyboard driven soundscapes are reassuring and unsettling, which back up his stately, poignant melodies. Recorded with a few cameos (Dylan guitarist Larry Campbell, session bassist T-Bone Wolk and Chris Whitley, who played national guitar) at NYC studio Red House, Goat mostly tracked alone, beginning with a Wurlitzer keyboard, and gradually finished with loops and samples.
Goat relocated to New York City from Cleveland to actualize his musical ambitions. He quickly picked up a gig at the famed Power Station recording studio, which led to playing on a Nils Lofgren song “Oh Baltimore.” He began his performing career in earnest, joining local rockabilly revivalist Will Rambeau’s band, pausing only to become the aide-de-camp to Otis Blackwell, writer of “Great Balls of Fire” and “Don’t Be Cruel.” Between albums he worked as the accompanist for the modern dance program at Julliard. Following a showcase at an NYC club, onetime Blondie bassist Nigel Harrison signed him to a deal with Interscope.
One of Goat’s biggest admirers is Joe Nicolo, current president of Judgment Entertainment, formerly half of the Butcher Brothers production team and president/co-owner of Ruffhouse Records (Lauryn Hill, The Fugees, Wyclef Jean, Cypress Hill, Kris Kross, Nas, etc.) Joe bought out Goat’s Interscope deal and nurtured him until he opened the doors of Judgment Records.
Said Joe Nicolo of Goat, “It’s not very often you come across an artist that mixes great lyrical sensibility with amazing melodies that absolutely resonate in your head. He is quite the talent.”
Following the release of ALL OF MY FRIENDS, Goat will hit the road for a series of tour dates throughout the United States.
