Beautifully and meticulously refurbished and recent home to Disney's
long-running hit musical "Aida," The Palace is one
of the most historic and storied venues on Broadway. From it's
early days as a vaudeville showcase to the "Flagship of
the RKO Circuit," The Palace is perhaps best known for housing
the concert engagement that turned Judy Garland from a movie
star into a living legend, and a venue the singer and actress
returned to time and time again for live performances.
The limited Palace engagement comes on the heels of the release
of Williams' seventh studio album, "Silver & Gold," a
collection of holiday classics, as well as new material that
captures the spirit of the season. Williams will also release
a collection of her favorite love songs from the 70's, in time
for Valentine's Day. Both albums will be available on Lava Records,
a division of the Warner Music Group.
Williams was last seen on the Great White Way in her Tony-nominated
role in the Tony-winning revival of "Into the Woods." She
achieved critical acclaim and box office success in her Broadway
debut, replacing Chita Rivera in "Kiss of the Spider Woman." She
also starred in the Encore! Series staged concert production
of "St. Louis Woman."
"Of all the opportunities and experiences I've been fortunate
enough to have in my career, I've always felt most at home on stage.
It will always be my first love and, as a native New Yorker, any
time I can return to Broadway is another dream come true," says
Williams. "This show will be special, because it not only
includes the hits people know and love, but I get to kick off my
favorite time of the year with some of the most beautiful holiday
songs ever written."
In addition to her successful musical career -- with numerous
Top 10 hits, including "Love Is," "Save the Best
for Last" and "Colors of the Wind," selling over
four million albums worldwide and earning numerous awards and
nominations -- Williams has achieved similar accolades for her
career as an actress on Broadway, television and motion pictures.
Williams was seen most recently in the feature film, "Johnson
Family Vacation."
