Seven Springs to Kick Off Summer Concert Series
CHAMPION, Pa., May 24 /PRNewswire/ - Seven Springs celebrates the summer in style with the 2004 Rock the Mountain Summer Concert Series. The resort presents a summer line-up that offers something for every musical taste. "We are very excited about all of the shows we have on tap for this summer," comments Melissa Cullin, special events manager at Seven Springs. "People of all ages will find a concert that is to their liking," she adds.
Melissa Etheridge
With a new album titled "Lucky" featuring the hit song "Breathe," Melissa Etheridge has hit the road again. The Grammy award-winning female rocker will be at Seven Springs on Saturday, June 19. Armed with just a trusty six-string, the master of passionate anthems mixes up old favorites like "Ain't it Heavy," "I'm the Only One" and "Come to My Window" along with new songs.
Melissa is at the top of her game now, with arguably the most spirited and joyful album and tour in a 15-year career that has included more peaks than any small-town girl could dream of. Selling over 30 million records worldwide, "Lucky" debuted on the Billboard Top 200 album chart at #15 in February 2004. Melissa has grabbed a dozen Grammy nominations (and two statuettes), as well as the prestigious ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award and sung with some of her biggest heroes. Along the way, Melissa has become known for her forthright honesty in a field that often places images over substance.
With every accolade she's attained, with successes too numerous to completely account for and with a catalogue of nearly 100 songs to rest on, Melissa Etheridge is still focused on one thing only. "I love to rock," she declares. "When I'm singing and I've got people in the audience throwing their head back and their hands up, I want to do that as long as I can."
Tracy Lawrence
Seven Springs also welcomes country music star Tracy Lawrence on June 20. This celebration of real country music and real friendship receives rave reviews across the country. With an entourage of hit songs like "Alibis," "Can't Break it to My Heart," "If the World had a Front Porch," "Time Marches On" and more, Tracy Lawrence relies on his catalog of music versus elaborate staging, light shows and other bells and whistles during a show. His attitude is "let the songs do the talking."
Lawrence's 1992 debut album, "Sticks and Stones," boasted four top ten hits and launched him into the forefront of the decade's young talent. His second album, "Alibis," spawned four straight number one smashes -- the title cut, "Can't Break it to My Heart," My Second Home" and "If the Good Die Young" -- and earned rave reviews everywhere from GQ to Newsweek. After being out of the spotlight for a couple of years, Tracy Lawrence is back on the charts in a big way. His new album, "Strong," debuted at number two on the Billboard country albums chart, and his latest single, "Paint Me a Birmingham," entered the Top 10 on Billboard's country singles list. Selling more than 50,000 copies since its release on March 30, "Strong" also debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200, a chart tracking sales of all music genres. Don't miss your chance to see Tracy Lawrence at Seven Springs with special guest Poverty Neck Hillbillies.
The Rock the Mountain Summer Concert Series will take place at Grey Rocks Amphitheatre, located in what becomes the snowtubing park during the winter season. Due to the continued increase in popularity of the resort's concerts, many enhancements have been made to the concert venue. Guests will enjoy improved access and the availability of premium seating for the outdoor concerts. "We have used past experience and comments from guests to develop the venue in a fashion that improves functionality and offers a better experience for concert-goers," says Cullin. Food and beverage facilities have also been expanded at Grey Rocks Amphitheatre.
