Music 411 - The Latest Music News For May 2004

LAVA RELEASE SCHEDULE For 2004:

MARCH 30, 2004 -TOBY LIGHTMAN "Little Things" Sexy, glamorous chanteuse from Cherry Hill, Nu-Jersey is ready to wow you with her vocal gymnastics.  Peter Zizzo who discovered Avril and Vanessa Carlton produced her album "Little Things".  The entire album was written or co-written by Toby (who did all the arrangements, plays acoustic guitar and sings all backups).  She's been compared to diverse artists such as Alicia Keys, Sheryl Crown and Bonnie Raitt and she's on tour now with Josh Kelly and Gavin DeGraw.

MAY 25, 2004-TONY C. & THE TRUTH "Demonphonic Blues" He's a badass from upstate New York who lives in a certifiable shack.  He's a real-life MENSA member, always has a 40-ounce malt liqueur in his pocket and he's read War & Peace 300 times.  He sounds like a cross between Fat Albert, a Delta Blueman and Tom Waits.  He drinks, he smokes Lucky Strikes unfiltered and he told Kid Rock to F*-off on his tour bus.  He's got demons and he's dangerous.  Sure to be on everyone's top 10 lists for 2004.  Be sure to also catch Tony C's cameo appearance in Playboy: The Mansion video game coming this Fall.

MAY 25 -SKILLET  "Collide" - Skillet are a hard rockin', four-piece band who hail from Memphis.  The band features melodic vocalist extraordinaire John Cooper on bass, one of the most ferocious, kick-arse females on drums and a female guitarist.   This band has sold over 300,000 records independently and are currently on tour with 12 Stones.  Move over Evanescence - Skillet are on the rise.

JUNE 1, 2004 -LOUQUE "So Long" - Louque (pronounced Luke) - He splits his time between hipster Williamsburg Brooklyn and New Orleans and well, this debut is a CRITIC's dream. Dustin could be America's answer to Cold Play.  Loops, samples and homemade beats-together are dubbed "Newlafaya," style--a combination of New York, Louisiana, and "FAYA" or Fire. You be the judge.  Music says it all on this cross-cultural album. Electronic/folk.  Dreamy.

JUNE 29TH - UNCLE KRACKER, "72 and SUNNY" - America's favorite Uncle and certified multi-platinum hit maker is back at it with the release of his forthcoming album 72 and Sunny, the follow-up to his sophomore album "No Stranger To Shame."  First single "Rescue," written by tunes-smith Diane Warren is a certified hit with one hell of a chorus.  Album also includes duet with Country Superstar Kenny Chesney!  Summer tour planned with Kenny Chesney beginning June 4th continuing on through Sept.  This album is a little bit country and a whole lotta rock n' roll!

JUNE 29TH  2004- AUTHORITY ZERO "ANDIAMO" - Sophomore album "Andiamo" produced by Ryan Green (NOFX, Rancid) and Miguel (Sublime, Unwritten Law)  co-producing.  Band's debut sold over 80,000 records.  "Rock Against Bush" Tour with NOFX and Alkaline Trio kicks off 3/29 thru 4/22.  If you haven't heard of this band -don't worry-you will!  Pennywise dates begin on May 7th and Warped tour dates this summer. Band's single "Revolution" has one heck of a kick-arse video featuring Malcolm X, Dali, Johnny Rotten, Mother Teresa and more.

JULY 13th-CHERIE, self-titled - Doe-eyed 19-year old vocalist, and France's best-kept secret will rival Whitney, Faith and Mariah on her upcoming self-titled debut album.  According to the New Yorker, [Cherie] has the vocal power of Whitney Houston and the feel-good-around-the-edges shimmer of Shania Twain."  Her debut single "I'm Ready" features the familiar guitar lick from Foreigner's "Urgent."  Plus, it doesn't hurt that she is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous!  Catch her song on Dell's upcoming national ad campaigns.

JULY 27th - NONPOINT, "RECOIL" - Ft. Lauderdale hard rock quartet are back and better than before.  These extreme gents are gearing up for a national headline tour featuring label-mates Skindred.  Band does crazy cover of Phil Collin's classic "In the Air Tonight" and a killer, all-Spanish track entitled "Rabia."  Band has toured with Ozzfest, Disturbed, Mudvayne and sold over 300,000 albums.  Get ready...
