| Q: How did the band form and
come up with the name Voo Doo Glow Skulls?
FC: We took the name from a toy necklace that comes in the
shape of a little skull that glows in the dark.
Q: How long has the band been around?
FC: We are now going on our 15th year as a band. We've been
touring professionally for about 12-13 years.
Q: How have the people closest to you reacted to your music?
FC: It has become part of their lives. It's play a BIG part
of their livelyhood. I have two kids that are growing up with my
music and career as part of
their everyday lives.
Q: If you were not musician's what would you be?
FC: Probably a warehouse forklift operator or some other
9 to 5 job.
Q: Who or what inspired you to become musicians?
FC: As kids, we were all fascinated with live music. We
grew up together
with music. From the times we used to listen to vinyl record with
our parents. To the times we used to go see Heavy Metal bands in
the 80's. We were always involved in music before sports or any
other activities.
Q: When can we expect some new music from Voodoo Glow Skulls?
FC: On October 5, 2004. The name of the album is "Adiccion
, Tradicion y Revolucion."
Q: Can fans get the album online?
FC: Yes, by going to victoryrecords.com.
Q: What are some of your favorite tracks?
FC: There are about 4-5 songs that stand out the most to
us!
Dee Dee Don't Like Ska, Smile Now, Cry Later,
Enter The Dragon, Disaster, & Eville to name
a few!
Q: What are your Three favorite Voo Doo Glow Skulls songs and why?
FC: I honestly don't have any particular favorite songs!
They are all part of my life and have related our emotions and
thoughts to our fans. To me, it's always special when a fan tells
you that one of your songs has inspred them in a positive way!
Q: How has success changed your life?
FC: Success comes in different forms. For us, success comes
in the shape of all the accomplishments we've had as a band. We
struggle financially, and are by no means well off! We survive
off our music, and it's better than having a normal job.
Q: What do you do to relax when you are on tour?
FC: There is no relaxing on tour. You're always tired when
you tour on our level. We do everything ourlseves! We drive our
van & trailer
and handle all of the business aspects of the band. Besides playing,
we sleep & drive!
Q: Do you remember where and what your first concert was like and
how has the band improved since the first show?
FC: Our first real show was at a local cafe in our hometown.
We didn't even have a brass section yet. Since then, we've added
a complete different spectrum to our music with the horn section.
I would say that it's a definite improvement.
Q: Why do you think people look up to you?
FC: I would like to think because we've stuck to our guns
with the way we've handled our career. We're not about trying to
create a marketable image and sell ourselves like a product. We
do music because it's our way of being creative and expressing
ourselves. Alot of musicians nowadays lack substance and orginality.
Q: What are some of the critiques that people give you and your
thoughts on them?
FC: I have been criticized for my vocals before. And our
music gets bad reviews once in awhile. But that's usually just
one person's opinion. It's unfortunate though, that alot of readers
will usually pass judgement on that one person's opinion.
Q: Where do you see the band in 10 years?
FC: In ten years? Hopefully, retired from doing this fulltime.
Q: If I stranger asked you to describe your music how would you
do so?
FC: It's punk rock influenced by ska music & latin culture.
Q: What do you like best about being a musician?
FC: I get to share my art with others who appreciate it.
I get to perform live and make people happy worldwide.
Q: Does the band have any pre show rituals? If so what are they?
FC: No, we just sit back stage and conserve energy by kickin
back.
Q: Will the band be playing any Florida shows on this leg of the
tour?
FC: Not until the second leg, which will be in Nov/Dec.
Q: how helpful do you feel online sites like Florida Entertainment
Scene are in helping to promote bands like Voo Doo Glow Skulls?
FC: Nowaday's, it's probably more effective than actually
being in the newspaper or something. The internet has revolutionized
the way bands and people in general can obtain and share information.
It's definitely the most helpful tool out there for resources,
communication and information.
Q: Do you have anything to say to the fans of Voo Doo Glow Skulls?
FC: Who Do Voo Doo We Do!!!
Q: Thanks for your time I wish you loads of success!
FC: Muchas Gracias!
