| Shinedown
at the House of Blues - July 11, 2004 |
Shinedown - The Incredibly talented foursome from Jacksonville,
FL (Consisting of: Brent
Smith - vocals, Jasin Todd - guitars,
Brad Stewart - bass and Barry
Kerch - drums) hit the stage captivating
an extremely enthusiastic sold out crowd at the House of Blues by
performing songs from their debut CD
"Leave A Whisper."
The show included first rate renditions
of "Fly From The
Inside," "Lost In The Crowd," "In Memory" (highlighted
by Barry Kerch's powerful drumming and Brad Stewart's prodigious
bass playing) and "Left Out" which Brent showed his improvisational
skills by performing a portion of the song using a bull horn.
Highlighting
the show was an amazing version of "45" which
showcases Jasin's succulent guitar work and Brent's first
rate vocals (which sent shivers up and down my spine) and the incredibly
emotional version of "Simple Man," which was one of the
most touching tributes I have seen one band pay another. Brent's
voice sounded like it came from the heavens. Jasin was simply
mesmerizing on the guitar. I saw many people in the crowd crying.
You may hear this song over the radio or in your
car, but until you see it live you can't fathom the
impact this
song will have on you.
Over the course
of your lifetime you may see hundreds of bands perform live. Most
you will forget shortly after their show is over. Shinedown is
one band you will NEVER forget seeing live. You've heard the term "must
see TV?" Well, Shinedown
is "must hear music." That's how good they are.
