Snoop Dogg, The Used
and Less Than
Jake

July 31, 2004 - The fifth stop on the Projekt Revolution Tour brought
these amazing bands to The Meadows Music Theater in Hartford, CT. The
tour is about bringing different styles of music together. Altogether
it was an incredible show.
The gates opened at 2 pm and the concert began at 2:30,
with the second stage. Unfortunately I missed the many bands that
graced this stage like Ghostface,
Funeral for a Friend, & MOP.
The Used kicked off the main stage around 4:15. They played
for about 30 minutes and included their hit "In the Ink".
Although the arena was only at half capacity, they received a great
response and were very appreciative.
Less than Jake was the second band to take the stage. They
too only played for approximately 30 minutes. Their sound was a
fuse of rock with brass (sax and trombone), which gave them a different
sound from any other band there. The fans really got into it and
everyone was having a great time, especially when they played their
prized song, "The Science of Selling Yourself Short".
Snoop Dogg was next on the line-up with a full assortment
of musicians. Not only did he come with his DJ, but a full rock
band and brass accompaniment. While DJ Pooh stood on top of "The Dogg House" mixing
it up, Snoop and his entourage rode scooters on stage, danced with
a few ladies from the crowd, and rapped and sang various songs, old
and new. Snoop is definitely an entertainer!
Next was my all-time favorite, Korn! Jonathan was perfection
personified. This was my second time experiencing Korn, the first
being at Ozzfest 2003. They played and sounded 100 times better
this time around and they were great at Ozzfest. Jonathan came
out in full Scottish regala with kilt, sporran and bagpipes and
belted out all Korn favorites like "Freak on a Leash", "Ya‘ll Want A Single", "I
Did My Time", "ADIAS", and "Falling Away From
Me." They also played "The Wall" by Pink Floyd which
received an amazing response. Monkey, Head, Fieldy, and David played
like never before, creating a Korn-frenzy. With everyone singing,
dancing, and waving their hands, it was truly incredible. Long live
Korn!
Linkin Park was the last to take the stage. Their stage
show was awesome with pyrotechnics and a special surprise as Jonathan
from Korn, intertwine his voice with Chester Bennington’s for the
song "One Step Closer". They played all of their top songs
like "In the End", "Crawling", "Numb", "Breaking
the Habit", and "Faint" . Although I felt that Mike
Shinoda was a tad off, it did not deter from the incredible show
that they put on. Not one fan left there disappointed. I can’t
wait to see them again next year.
