| Young band combines youth and talent for great sound
|
March 29, 2005 - Myrtle Beach, SC -
In the late 1990s, five Toronto teenagers put together
a garage band. Influenced heavily by Nirvana and the Ramones, the band evolved into an edgy group more than capable of opening for Papa Roach on a two month long summer long tour.
Ben Cook, spokesman and vocals for the band, is joined by Matt DeLong (guitar), Jordan Posner (guitar), Ryan Gavel (bass) and Jess Labovitz (drums) on stage, and their rapport is obvious. When asked how they got started, Ben replied that they were just a "bunch of teenaged kids screwing around in basements." They named Nirvana as their main influence but also credit heavy metal and punk as shaping their sound.
There is no particular hidden meaning to the name -
the guys just liked the sound of it when they were young. While still teenagers, the band cut a 7 inch record, which was followed by their first full record
"Ill Blood." Their newest release, "Suffer, Survive"
is a different sound, according to Cook, which is more "melodic and slower."
All the members of No Warning said that they were
very happy to be touring with Papa Roach. They are grateful to that band, as they say they have been "treated great, we get to hang out with them and
it is a good vibe for the whole tour." They have played every type of venue from small bars to large arenas with other bands. According to guitarist
Jordan Posner, there "is something really cool about 10,000 kids screaming but there is also something just as cool about 100 kids enjoying our music and singing along."
However, all five said that they do miss being home - they would love some home cooking and sleeping in their own bed. But the band members also said that they are glad to be touring and would be itchy to get back on the road again after a short visit home.
When asked about the new wave of online interviews and coverage, he states that the band feels that online coverage of music is the way of the future and the band is appreciative of the opportunity.
Members of No Warning issued a special thanks to their fans. According to Ben, " we thank you for your support - both our old fans who have stuck by us and the new fans who are finding out about us." He also stated that the band will tour all summer and to "please come out and see us".
No Warning is from Toronto, Ontario and tour on a regular basis. For more band info visit the No Warning website.
No Warning's latest album "Suffer, Survive" is on Warner Bros. Records and is available at the usual outlets.
