November 15, 2005 - During the Ocoee Founders' Day celebration we were able to sit down and talk with Country Music artist Craig Morgan. Below is what he had to say to us.

Q. Who were some of your early influences growing up?

Craig: Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, John Conlee, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder and James Taylor.

Q. How big of a role has your family been in encouraging you to achieve your dream?

Craig: I couldn't have done it without them. Period.

Q. Where did you film the video for Redneck Yacht Club?

Craig: Percy Priest Lake. I actually grew up as a kid on that lake.

Q. That looked like a lot of fun. How did you get Blake Shelton and Aaron Tippin to be in the video?

Craig: I just called them up. They are real good friends of mine. I told them what I was doing and asked if they would participate and they said yes.

Q. How much say do you have in the songs that get selected to go on the CD?

Craig: 100%. If I do not like it, it does not go on the CD.

Q. Do you have a favorite song on of "My Kind of Livin?"

Craig: No. Not really. If I had to pick one, it would probably be "Lotta Man [In That Little Boy]", because it is a true story about my son. But the reality is these are 11 of my favorite songs that I heard when we were preparing for this CD.

Q. How did you get involved in Hunter's Dream?

Craig: Rob Nelson's son. Rob is a friend of mine. I hired him to do some marketing for me. I became interested in his program and began working with him.

Q. Are you involved in any other charities?

Craig: Yes. Deliver the Dream. St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. I am the national spokesperson for Hunters for the Hungry.

Q. Everyone says that you are a very funny guy. Do you joke around and pull a lot of pranks when you are on the road?

Craig: I don't know why people say that. I'm kind of quiet and keep to myself. I don't get involved much. Not true. I like to have fun, it's tough. We spend a lot of time on the road. I see these 11 people here more than I see my own family. We have to do things to keep it interesting, keep the energy up. It is a good way to take off the edge some time. Like wrestling is a good way to get rid of some excess energy. So we do things to have fun.

Q. Do you have a pre-show routine?

Craig: We pray before every show, as a group.

Q. Do you have any ties to Florida? (Ocoee Founders' Day)

Craig: My former manager and very dear friend is in the Hollywood/Miami area. Dan Marino is a good buddy of mine.
