Q: How Did the Band come up with the name "Moments in Grace?

The name comes from the lyrics of a song called “Drink Deep” by the band Rites of Spring.

Q: How difficult was it to get inked to a record deal?

We were very fortunate with our deal, we had self-recorded a demo a couple of years back and it just happened to get into the hands of (producer) Brian McTernan through another band that we played a show with. We’d been playing lots of shows and trying to get interest sparked in our band, things just fell right into place for us. (Ed. Note: Click on this link to purchase music by Moments in Grace.)

Q: Did the band have to showcase at all? If so when and where?

Brian came to Florida to meet us and to check out a show, but it wasn’t really a formal “showcase”.

Q: The Band has an album scheduled for release in June. What are some of your favorite tracks off the album?

My overall favorite is probably “Stratus”, which was also released on our online EP. The lyrics hold a lot of meaning for me, and it’s a great one to play live. I also really like “The Blurring Lines of Loss”, it’s a faster song that came out really well on the album.

Q: Which songs will be released as singles?

I’m pretty sure “Stratus” is going to be the first single from the album, the other ones are still yet to be decided.

Q: How does the band decide which songs will be released?

It’s really a matter of picking which songs seem to reach out to people, the ones that get a good response from those who’ve already heard them. We all love every song on the record, so it’s hard for us to be able to stand back and pick them by ourselves. It’s always nice to have some outsider perspective.

Q: Will the band make any music videos for the album. If so, how many?

We have plans to make one for “Stratus” sometime very soon. As far as other videos, we have yet to see.

Q: How can a fan of Moments in Grace join your street team?

By visiting Total Assault and signing up, we’re so thankful to have people helping us out!

Q: If you weren't a musician what would you be?

I’d be a college student, that’s mainly what I was doing before I dropped everything to pursue the band.

Q: If we were to take a ride in a car what cd's would you bring to listen to?

Probably too many, I have trouble grabbing just 3 or 4. Tears for Fears, “Elemental”. Sunny Day Real Estate, “The Rising Tide”, Mi Capitan, “This is only a test”, and The Last Great Liar, “Doppelganger” are all great CDs for driving music.

Q: Do you have a favorite city or venue to perform in?

I really enjoy playing in Ventura, California...but as far as venues go - I love the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida.

Q: How did you get booked onto this year's Vans Warped Tour?

I’m not sure, I think we were invited.

Q: How do you feel the band will benefit from performing on the Warped Tour?

The Warped Tour is definitely one of the best tours to be on for establishing new bands, so we’re definitely excited to be on it this summer. The tour is really beneficial for any band that plays, the exposure is great. Hopefully people will come check us out, a lot of other great bands are playing on the same stage as us (The Bled, Stretch Arm Strong.)

Q: You played a show recently at State Theatre in St. Petersburg, FL.What was it like for the band to play a show in your home state?

It’s great, we love playing in Florida. We also played Orlando, Jacksonville, and West Palm Beach on this tour with Avenged Sevenfold. Florida is typically a really good state for shows, and of course we also get to see our friends and family when we’re there.

Q: Where do you see Moments in Grace say five (5) years from now?

In five years I hope to see us playing great shows and still writing/performing music that we all love just as much as the stuff that’s coming out on the new album.

Q: Is there anything you would like to say to the fans of Moments in Grace?

Sure, I actually have a few things I’d like to say to the fans and supporters from this past year: Thank you for all of the kind words and help you’ve given us over the past year. We’ve been having a great time on the road and are looking forward to seeing everyone again soon because we’ll be on tour all year. I’d also love to encourage everyone to visit our website and message board-we’ve found it to be a great way to connect with everyone that’s into what we’re doing...we get on there nearly every day to talk to friends and fans from the road. Thanks!
