Motion City Soundtrack
Concert Review

February 26, 2005 - Motion City Soundtrack is one of a
few bands that keep my hope alive, that the state of
music
today is not all bad.
With so many bands that sound the same it's really refreshing to finally hear one that writes about different, somewhat simpler things ... like "having good hygiene."
That's at least what Justin Pierre (MCS's singer/guitarist) said about their song "perfect teeth," and even gave everyone a nice bit of advice telling the kids "always take care of your teeth." That's just what kind of band they are; silly, but in a gracious, somehow sweet way (if that makes any sense).
Gracious, by thanking people for listening to new music (when perhaps it was people who should've done the thanking); yet sweet in that silly way by responding to someone yelling "I LOVE YOU!" with the remark "I'm quite fond of you as well."
But as if MCS's good karma/good vibe isn't enough reason
to love them, simply put, their music is. Whether it's live
or a studio recording, an acoustic track or amplified, it's
all amazing.
The performance tonight was no exception. Some songs played included "Cambridge," "Boombox Generation," "Shiver," "the Future Freaks me out," and "Don't call it a Comeback," off the breakout album 'I Am The Movie,' as
well as two songs ("Better Open" and "Time Turn Fragile") off the new album 'Commit This To Memory,' (Produced
by Mark Hoppus) and due out June 7, 2005.
There is a line from one of MCS's most popular songs that goes "I'm on fire and now I think I'm ready to bust a move, check it out I'm rockin' steady..." which pretty much sums
up their live show. They definitely make everyone here
all "footloose in our Velcro shoes."
Motion City Soundtrack is from Minneapolis, MN and tour on a regular basis. To sample music visit the MCS page at Myspace.com. For more band info visit the official Motion
