Manson Rocks The Ford Amphitheater
by K. Shawn Davis/FloridaEntertainmentScene.com |
July 27, 2007 - Tampa, FL -
MARYLIN MANSON demands respect from all for the production and performance on July 27, 2007 at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa. The masses of Hot Topic gals and guys alike entered the Amphitheater all dressed to see their rebellious preacher on his 2007 "Eat Me, Drink Me" tour. Co-Headliner with Slayer, a weird mix of line up.
Manson opened the show with all the dark antics faithful fans expect. Starting the set behind a red lit curtain which intensely built the crowd anxiety to an intimidating level. The curtain dropped to show a familiar looking Marilyn Manson dressed in all black with jet black hair and eye liner to match. Singing into the crowd and with the crowd the master of gothic rock made his presence known and most powerful with the lighting, props, and stage violence. With the fans going crazy during familiar songs like "Mobscene" if you can picture the showman rolling around the stage, touching his fans, and rocking in some limber positions. Mixing a new set list with tracks to include " Heart Shaped Glasses " a single from the new CD "Eat Me, Drink Me". What a different tone the new album has from the Manson that most people know and expect to sound a certain way. With the feel of ballad songs from the 80's he unleashed this new portrait of gothic heart pouring. The fans I spoke with had mixed feedback on the new track.
Special credit to the guy that had to recover every mic Mason threw after every song. That guy was like stage batman. Comical and tolerant. I am laughing just thinking of it now.
During what appeared to be a 20 foot tornado on stage atop appears Manson is his long royal coat. I have to say this was the most amazing prop I have ever witnessed. This could only be reveled in a Las Vegas magic show. I wish professional photos would have been allowed by net media so I could include this visual for you all to witness. I do believe this was the largest jaw dropping event of the evening.
Loving the well known "Beautiful People" with confetti that must have shot 100 feet into the sea of memorized faces. After a dark pause and the crowd chanting for the encore the stage lit to show the famous podium where the final sermon took place.
Fans left with satisfied smiles and a wild eyed look as if they took something away from the experience. I have to admit I was one of them. There is nothing that can ever make you as high as watching a stellar performance.
