Q: Can you tell us how Madcap was formed and how the band decided on its name?
JM: Madcap was formed by friends in school that found comfort in playing music. I was not in the band at this time and was not there for the name decision but it had something to do with an old man on the bus we all used to take would always call us Madcap kids.
Q: Every band has a story on what's involved in getting inked to a record deal.
Can you tell us how Madcap ended up with Victory Records?
JM: It was actually all by chance. We were ready to move on from our previous label and happen to be out on tour with Catch 22. When we played Chicago with them almost the whole staff of Victory was there including it's president Tony Brummel. They all really like us and the deal was done within a week and we couldn't be happier now.
Q: Your latest album, "Under Suspicion" was released
in February. What are your
thoughts on this album?
JM: It's such a progression for us in every aspect. The songwriting as well as the sound. It is by far the best Madcap album to date.
Q: Do you have a favorite song off the album?
JM: I really enjoy track #4 "Somewhere in the city."
Q: Who decides what songs will be released as singles?
JM: Well I think it's a joint decision between us and the label. I usually try to hear as much feedback from outside opinions as to what our single should be. This way you have someone not involved in the process and is just a listener.
Q: Where does the band draw inspiration for their songs?
JM: When I am writing a song I try and draw from everyday life as much as I can this way I will connect with more people.
Q: A stranger asks you to describe your bands music. What would you tell them?
JM: A rockin' good time.
Q: What's the best thing about being a musician?
JM: Playing this music and meeting so many great people.
Q: The band recently played a couple of shows in the
United Kingdom. What is
the most difficult thing about touring overseas?
JM: Actually those shows were postponed due to circumstances beyond our control but we plan to play overseas asap.
Q: What are some of the more memorable tours or shows Madcap has done?
JM: Our first US tour with The Bouncing Souls was amazing. I have so many great memories from this tour and they have always been one of my favorite bands. Also going out with Simple Plan really showed us what a Large scale tour is like.
Q: When touring what does the band do on their off days?
JM: We try and explore the city we are in, even if you have been there before there is always something new to see.
Q: Can you give us the 411 on future Madcap tour dates?
JM: We are off right now but have tours scheduled for late summer as well as the fall.
Q: Can you give us a couple of reasons
why fans should join the Madcap Street
team?
JM: Because if you believe in something you should fight for it and everyone on our street team are true believers and have fun doing it. I try to make it worthwhile for everyone on the team. Everyone has my Email address and can write to me at anytime.
Q: Now that you've given us reasons how can a fan join the Madcap Street team?
JM: go to our website madcap.net you can enter right on it.
Q: Where do you see Madcap five (5) years from now?
JM: Selling out a venue near you.
Q: Would you like to say anything to the fans of Madcap?
JM: Thank you for supporting us and our music. We have the best fans in all of music. Hopefully I get a chance to talk to all of you someday.
Q: Thank you for your time.
JM: Thank you. I enjoyed it alot!
