Scott Lucas of Local H |
Local H
At House of Blues -
Orlando, FL
November 18, 2004
|
I remember a few years ago, the band Local H came to Orlando and
had a show scheduled in a small venue downtown... I was exstatic.
I planned to go with my best friend and we babysat for hours to earn
money. Then, the week before the show we found out (via the fine
print of the venue's monthly brochure) that the show was 18 and up.
As disappointed as I was at the time, I'm not disappointed anymore.
November 18th I finally saw the band that had eluded me so many times
before.
Throughout the years Local H have had so many great singles that
it's hard to believe that they're still as unknown as they are here
in Florida. Most of those singles, including "All the Kids Are
Right," Fritz's Corner," and the ever-popular "Bound
for the Floor" were performed along with other darker, more
solemn songs like "Hands on the Bible."

Brian St. Clair of Local H |
During their set, Local H showed their distinction, with drummer
Brian St. Clair , never slowing down, all the while hiding his face
behind his long, sweaty, blonde hair. And singer Scott Lucas, dancing
and singing like a madman. Closing out their set he leaned his guitar
against an amp for some steady feedback, and with the crowd's help
he chanted "they've got the money, but we've got the soul." All
the way through the set and even after at the merch table, Local
H maintained a steady connection with the crowd, one sure way to
show they really do have the soul.
