January 29, 2005 - Some people say that seeing U2 in concert is almost spiritual, like Bono is God...well, if Bono is God then Scotland is Heaven and Keane are angels. That would at least explain their singer's voice. It is so beautiful, it could pass for an angel, or what I'd imagine one sounding like. That singer, Tom Chaplin, along with keyboardist/pianist Tom Rice and drummer Richard Hughes, make up Keane, a band that doesn't play any guitars, but still gives an amazing and intense performance.
This past show at House Of Blues, was Keane's first time in Florida, where they played several songs from their latest album Hopes and Fears. Some of the
standout moments of the night were "This is the Last Time," "Somewhere Only we Know," "Bend and Break," "Everybody's Changing" and "She has no Time."
They were even kind enough to share a brand new song with us, titled "Nothing Holding me back." During the
show they were not only amazing musically, but also
very gracious, continuously thanking the audience as well as the two opening bands, the Redwalls and the Zutons.
Throughout the hour or so of watching Keane I couldn't stop thinking how glad I was to be there (considering
how fast the show sold out), and how excited I will be when they come back to see us again.
