I Digress
Concert Review
At the Blue Martini in Fort Lauderdale, FL |
July 4, 2005- It was very courageous for this 5 piece band
to take the stage on this day of nation wide celebration,
but no other local band could have empowered the
Martini crowd more than I Digress with such rocking riffs.
Vocalist, Sheyenne Rivers entrances the audience with
her sexy, charismatic, and wide ranging vocal
performance. Unafraid to get up close and personal with
her audience seems to come almost too natural for her.
She swiftly makes her way around the entire bar all the
way to the bathroom not missing a beat. Her voice resembling a combination between Pat Benatar and
Stevie Nicks leaves this tingling feeling running up and
down your spine as she passes you a glance, but never compromising a note.
As if Sheyenne wasn't enough of a powerhouse, her
backing band members have a stage presence all of their own. Seldom do I see a band in which each member encompasses such unique styles but come together so naturally. Their tight performance dynamics and rhythmic changes portray their commitment giving you their solid sound. Bass player, Mark Caldwell is the grooviest bass player as he gives in to the catchy rhythm they've worked hard to achieve. Lead guitarist, Jeff Cunningham engulfs
you in his flawless guitar solos as guitar player/composer, John D' Angelo accompanies him creating this melodic sound that will remain in your head even on your drive
home.
They give covers ranging from TOOL to 3 Doors
Down a new meaning, Sheyenne remaining just as
appealing and confident. A favorite original, Drain, made quite a few locals put down their martinis and bob their
head as they were entranced by the bands riveting performance.
After their show the band gladly accept all compliments and took time to wind down with the crowd. Their heavy sound with melodic edge proved very much appreciated with this audience and leaving us all wanting more.
I Digress all reside in South Florida, but this has not limited them from taking over bars in other cities such as Orlando and New York creating a buzz that has enabled them the opportunity to play the new Hard Rock
Live in Hollywood, FL.
They are currently promoting their latest album titled JUSTICE and continue to record new songs for their fans that are anxiously waiting their release.
