Hawthorne Heights
"If Only You Were Lonely" CD Review
Release Date: February 28, 2006
Released By: Victory Records

July 23, 2006 - If you are familiar with Hawthorne Heights, which I’m sure many of you are, they’ve hit their sound right on the nail….again! In their second album,
"If Only You Were Lonely," Hawthorne Heights, remains consistent in donating lyrics of an obvious effected relationship and stay true to this melodic punk and pop/emo combination that many bands are relentlessly portraying.

Hawthorne Heights

To be fair, this album is entirely well produced and the guitars are consistent and fresh, but no particular song stands out from the others. Well, the last song “December,” is different in that it is a lot slower tempo than the other 11 tracks.

I paid attention to “Pens and Needles,” the fourth song off this album, because they have a cool music video that is being played on Fuse TV for it and in my opinion it is one of the best songs on the album. It has good rhythmical changes and I like the intro guitars because it reminds me of one of my favorite songs off of their last album, “Ohio Is For Lovers.” “Saying Sorry,” is catchy song and you can expect to hear eleven other tracks as tasteful and appealing as this song.

If you are familiar with their past album and just couldn’t get enough, then this is the next album you should definitely purchase.

”If Only You Were Lonely” also comes with a DVD that contains an episode of Victor V not seen on TV (hosted by JT Woodruff) and includes videos of several Victory Records bands which should surely please any Victory Records fan. While the DVD looks and sounds great on a television, I found watching it on my computer the sound would not work. This most likely is designed this way on purpose.

The liner notes include lyrics of all the songs and several photographs.
