Finger Eleven
"Them Vs You Vs Me" CD Review
By Melissa Deskovic/FloridaEntertainmentScene.com
Release Date: March 6, 2007
Released By: Wind-up Records

February 28, 2007 - Since the mid nineties Finger eleven have been wowing crowds with their radio friendly, post alt rock/grunge sound. They first skyrocketed to fame in their native Canada a place ,where they were previously known as Rainbow Butt Monkeys even releasing an album or two under that moniker. While such a name may draw a snicker or two from the more sophomoric minded not everyone saw the humor in it. Two of the band mates “strongly encouraged” their fellow band members to change their name. Taking a line from one of their own songs from their third album TIP they finally agreed on Finger Eleven. “When everything is pushing you in one direction and your instinct drives you in another--that’s finger eleven." Says lead singer Scott Anderson.

In 1997 their release TIP established them permanently in the hearts of America’s youth. For the past 7 years while some may speculate that they have disappeared, the fact remains that they have been very busy indeed lending their songs to various movies, video games, and more. You can hear their songs played on the long running cartoon Dragonball Z. They even went as far as to lend their music as the background to the WWE legend KAIN.

Finger Eleven’s newest album THEM VS YOU VS ME is said to be their most spectacular album to date. With the group taking on more of a lead roll in the writing and production process you are able to see more of their personalities shine forth in their songs. You can see their sense of humor in their first release “Paraylazer” which is said that Anderson wrote as a “self-deprecating joke about how stupid I feel going out to nightclubs." The video which has gone into production will be released as a teaser to the album and can be viewed on the bands official webpage.

Spending copious amounts of time writing they are said to have a totally of 100 songs that they wrote in preparation for this release. Using methods that are non traditional in the music world actually built the songs online and would email them back and forth to each other so each person could build upon what the previous one had done? This is a very different method and against traditional standards but whatever it was that they did…it worked!

Produced by Johnny K who has produced the likes of Disturbed and Three Doors Down their sound has evolved which you can hear on songs such as “I’ll keep your memory Vague” and So-So Suicide” Don’t let the song titles fool you though, this isn’t your little brothers emo this is an album full of hard hitting rock songs that show that just because a group has been away from the limelight for awhile doesn’t mean that they have forgotten how to hold their own.

You can catch them on tour this spring with the likes of Evanescence and Chevelle. You can find a full listing of tour dates on their official website FingerEleven.com.

Finger Eleven is from Burlington, Ontario and tour on a regular basis.
