"Left Side of The Brain" CD Review
By Megan Ash/FloridaEntertainmentScene.com
Release Date: May 22, 2007
Released By: Bieler Bros. Records

September 21, 2007 - If you didn’t know any better when first listening to this album you would assume that Sting is singing, but he is not it is his son Joseph Sumner. Fiction Plane is a London based group and has gotten good reviews and success in Europe, though not as well in the U.S.

“Left Side of The Brain” is the second album for Fiction Plane [plus a demo album, earlier on in their career.] The single that has landed on U.S charts is “Two Sisters” the promiscuous’ boys dilemma of loving two girls and which one to choose, tonight.

The album is a very pleasing and relaxing mix of music, sounding much like Police when they first started out. Possibly to be this modern day’s Police. The album “Left Side of the Brain” is also the name of one of the tracks on the album. This album brings out the better side of the mellow-trend that we are seeing in the stores lately. A perfect fall album - listening to it is like watching leaves fall peacefully on the ground.

“Anyone” is the hidden gem of this album just for the beginning of the song, it’s masterful. The album has a lot of instrumental parts of it that are relaxing and refreshing straying from the predictable rhythm dirges around. Fiction Plane also proves you can swear without over using it and making it tactless. “Fake Light from the Sun” makes me think that we are living in a huge dome the sun only a large halogen light bulb and wires hanging from the cloud painted sky. This album strays from political issues which sometimes can be unwanted in music, but a necessary part of music’s’ history. That is a good thing for sometimes you hear enough of that on the news in and around your daily lives this is a great get away.

"Left Side of The Brain" is now available at all the usual outlets on Bieler Bros Records.
