July 31, 2007 - Recently we chatted with Frontman Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch who are curently headling this year's Guitar Hero II Stage on The Family Values Tour. Below is what he had to say to us.

FES: How did Five Finger Death Punch get invited to play on this year's Family Values Tour?
 
Ivan: We got signed to the Firm's label, and they manage KoRn, Flyleaf, and have been putting Family Values on with Live Nation for a while now.  It just seemed like a perfect fit for us! 

FES: Please gives us your thoughts on Five Finger Death Punch headlining the Guitar Hero II second stage at the 2007 Family Values Tour?
 
Ivan: Oh, man...  It's un-fucking-believable!  To headline the second stage is awesome, and that Guitar Hero is involved is even more fun.  That's a fun-ass game.  Oddly enough, Zoltan and Darrel (guitar players in FFDP) can shred like nobody's business, but they have trouble with Guitar Hero and the buttons!

FES: What are you looking forward to most about performing on FVT?

Ivan: I can't pick just one thing that excites me about it... The entire experience is amazing!! Touring with some of my favorite bands (Korn, Hell Yeah, Atreyu, Trivium, Etc.) Seeing 20,000 Metal Heads every single day, seeing the Country , Just about every little detail that goes into being on this tour gives me the chills!

FES: We like to ask the bands who are playing this year's Family Values Tour to tell us a little about themselves as a band as our readers will know what to expect?

 Ivan: We were all in the metal scene in other bands, and we all just kind of met through there.  It was great because we all respected each other as musicians and people, and we all had the same vision... To bring back TRUE METAL.  I was the last person to join the band, actually.  Zoltan had assembled his army and he knew me from when I was in Motograter.  He invited me out for an audition, and all of the sudden I was part of the band!

FES: What would you like to achieve by playing this year's FVT?

Ivan: I wanna dominate every single town we play in! We have some asses to kick and some names to take! We are coming out like a tank!

FES: Will Five Finger Death Punch be recording their daily exploits on The Family Values Tour and if so where can fans go to watch or read these exploits?

Ivan: Definitely!  We'll be recording video on the road that will be available on our myspace page, and will probably be on beatdowntv.com too.  You can see all the hi-jinks from the road, and we'll be posting photos online at buzznet.com as well.  As far as a DVD, we'd love to do one someday.

FES: Did you ever go to any FVT as a fan and what was it like for you to do this?
 
Ivan: I was a huge fan of the old Family Values -- KoRn, Ice Cube, and a lot of great bands took the stage on this tour.  To think that we're on that tour now is just a trip.

FES: What sets Five Finger Death Punch apart from the rest of the bands on the tour?

Ivan: Well, considering we are FULL BLOWN METAL, I think that will set us apart from a few of the other bands. We take a great deal of pride in our live performance, we don't want one person walking away from our set thinking anything less than "HOOOOLY FUCKIN SHIT!!??! Those guys are out of their skulls! And I like it!!"

FES: Describe your perfect summer day?

Ivan: "Touring the Country, playing music, meeting new people. (Women with hardly any clothing on is ALWAYS a summer plus!!) Love That Heat!

FES: What are some of the essentials you're bringing on this year's FVT?

Ivan: My Fists! I always bring as many DVD's as possible, I think I've probably seen just about Horror Film ever created.

FES: How will you spend your downtime while on tour?

Ivan: Reading is a big one, a lot of movies and PORN! We also bring our free weights on tour, so I still get to workout.

FES : What do you have to say to fans who will be attending this year's Family Values Tour?
 
 Ivan: Bring your first aid kit!  The Five Finger Death Punch Pit is going OFF!!!
