Caliban vs. Heaven Shall Burn
"The Split Program II" CD Review
Release Date: July 26, 2005
Released by: Lifeforce Records

July 12, 2005 - Here is version 2 of this great split
between two outstanding Metalcore bands from Germany.
In my opinion I think it's a draw, they both destroy!
End of story.

Heaven Shall Burn:

1. Unleash Enlightenment - Brutal! and you'll hear me
use that term many times throughout this review. Song
is well structure with heaviness reigning from every instrument involved.

2. No One Will Shed A Tear - Pounding drums help the
intro become really full then in kicks the full rhythm of
the song. Brutal vocals have a demonic feel to them.
Well done.

3. Nyfaedd Von - Beautiful piano opens this track with a sullen violin middle section. Great instrumental.

4. If This A Man - Goes from nice slow instrumental to a blasting rhythm to make your ears bleed and that's a
good thing. Vocalist is extremely heavy but not over the
top and uses a doubling effect with a high pitch vocal
to add fullness.

5. Downfall of Christ - Nice gallop rhythm to start things
off and it stays in a nice groove while drums step up the tempo to give it that heavy brutal feel.

6. Destroy Fascism - Full assault from start to finish with
no let down in between. You just gotta love that.
Outstanding drum work.

Caliban:

7. The revenge - Nice old school and Metalcore feel to this track & uses many grooves throughout. Very good song.

8. Arena of Concealment - Heavy guitars=BRUTAL! The
band picks up the tempo on this track with sounds like
the drums are raging 1000 miles an hour.

9. One Day - Great use of artificial harmonics and solid moshing rhythm to get you in the mood to fight.

10. A Summer Dream - Chorus laden guitars open the song and is nicely followed by a heavy riffing guitar, then into the pit & throwing down like they can. Super blastbeats from
the drummer, great job.

11. One More Lie - Beginning is cool nice guitar voicing
here, then we go into a hardcore pounding you in the face rhythm which continues to assault you until it's finished.
It has a nice mix-up in the middle section with the
acoustics. Outstanding!
