Blues Traveler Makes Their Mark on the House of Blues
By Todd Grasley/FloridaEntertainmentScene.com |
May 12, 2006 - Orlando, FL - It was only fitting that the band named Blues Traveler performed at the House of Blues tonight.
And what would a blues concert be without a Harmonica? Lead singer John Popper brought out the harmonica on the very first song for a Blues Traveler rendition of the "Devil Went Down to Georgia."
The band came on stage at 9:30 and played for roughly an hour and a half. The near capacity crowd included, Bob and Debby Zelly of Stewartsville, NJ who stopped to hear Blues Traveler while on vacation. "We were just walking around [Downtown Disney] and saw Blues Traveler was playing. I told my wife we had to get tickets, and so we did," said Bob.

Most of the songs came off their latest CD "Bastardos" which was released in September of 2005 [On Vanguard Records], although they did play a couple classics such as "Hook" from the "Four" CD released in 1994. "After What," a song about the aftermath of a breakup, and "She and I," a song about the loneliness that a lack of love can cause, accomplishes the goal of their latest CD "Bastardos," to go out and have fun singing their style of music, not worrying about what others think.
Blues Traveler started in Princeton, New Jersey and consists of
John Popper - lead vocals and harmonica, Chad Kinchla - guitar, Brendan Hill - drums, Tad Kinchla - bass and Ben Wilson on the keyboard. Blues Traveler has a total of 13 CD's, the oldest dating back to 1990. Over 15 years and still running, Blues Traveler continues to be a hit.
Their tour around America will continue with stops in Ohio, Colorado, and numerous other states. The tour will come to an end in Greenvale, NY on November 17, 2006.
